Park Inn Sadu Hotel: Hotel with Great Location in Moscow
This is a newly opened 4 star hotel in the Park Inn chain. The rooms are small and the bathroom smaller still, but it has everything you need and is clean, new and functional. Some rooms have small balconies and there is a mini bar, built in wardrobe with safe and flat screen tv in each room. There are ironing boards available on each floor. Very clean and still a very new feel. Staff are freindly and speak English well.
There is a small but comfortable lobby area and a restaurant and bar. Strangely I never saw a menu the whole time I was there although there were reasonable amounts of people eating in the restaurant in the evenings. (I asked reception for a room service menu but they didn't have one and advised me just to ask the restauarant to cook me what I wanted).
There is a bar area at the front of the restaurant but there are no beers, wines or spirits on display. If you hang about the bar they will serve you and go and get you what you want.
I never ate in the restaurant apart from breakfast because I never saw a menu and the bar was strange as it didn't seem to function as one and I had to ask for a beer in the evening and they went to the next door room to get one.
Self service breakfasts are good and include sausage, bacon, eggs, grilled fresh vegetables, lovely folded pancakes and eggs bebedict along with cheese, meats, fresh fruit and croissants.
I would stay here again because of its excellent location (see below) and free WIFI indeed my only big gripe against the hotel was that despite three e-mails in English and Russian they never faxed me the paperwork for the visa and I had to pay extra through the Russian tourist office in London.
The location is fantastic being only a 3 minute walk from Polyanka Metro Station, 7 minutes from the Tretyakov Gallery and 10 minute walk from the Kremlin and Red Square. Outside and to the right there is an Irish Bar, a post office and a 24 hour supermarket a 2 minute walk awat
There is a great restaurant called Kvartir 44 nearby very near the church close to Polyanka Station. (Take the street directly opposite the church and then turn right and right again and you will see the sign (in Russian). Don't be put off by the entrance there is great food served here at reasonable prices (the "cherry soup" dessert was fantastic) and excellent English is spoken and the Sibirskaya Korona beer is tasty. There is also a menu in English. There is a nice rustic feel and they play live music in the evenings.
Look out for the the bell ringer in the belfry pulling all the strings to chime the bells on Sunday mornings after the Divine Liturgy.
