Ararat Park Hyatt
The site is that of the former Ararat hotel, taken over by Hyatt for management under its luxury brand, the Park Hyatt. The old hotel's legacy remains both in the name and in Armenian cuisine restaurants.
When available, the Ararat Park Hyatt is my first choice when travelling to Moscow on business, mostly because of the design (there are lots of 5* hotels in Moscow now and service is comparable), but it's also popular with higher-end group tours.
Note of caution:
Quite a few of upscale Moscow hotels tend to have groups of girls milling about in the lobby, and looking for some company with a wealthy foreigner. Hyatt is unfortunately no exception...
Unique Quality: Favourite features:
- Design: oriental minimalist, while still retaining the feel of luxury. Candles in the lobby at night are a particular favourite
- Health centre: excellent pool and facilities
- Rooftop bar: with a view of the Kremlin and the Teatral'naja (Theatre) Square, open air tables are available, and they do have very good cocktails
- Opinion of Price: more expensive than average
