Maybe oldest hostel in the city
Very friendly and helpfull staff, day and night there is somebody to help you , it makes a big difference visiting this hudge city, alone.
Dormitory is clean and well organised. The personal locker in the room was small.
There is a lot of sanitary, so you have always a possibility for shower and bathroom.
I would recommend this hostel any time for budget travellers.
The dormitory price is mostly lower if you reserve by internet.
Unique Quality: The staff makes a big difference in this hostel; there is an excellent service in english but also in french or spanish.

Moscow's Western-owned hostel
The rooms are clean, towels and linen are provided. The hostel has a huge library of 400 blu ray movies you can watch whenever you like.
Wifi is free and there are also 2 computers for use if you didn't bring your own.
The showers are hot and the toilets are clean as well.
The kitchens are well stocked.
No curfew.
They provide maps of the area and help you in getting around.
Staff speak perfect English and passable Russian.
Western owned and managed.
Unique Quality: The hostel is located perhaps 200m walk from the metro station T'snetnoy Bul'Var - great location for going out and for eating in.

Centrally located hostel in Moscow
I spent 3 nights here in May 2008 It's an ok place. Staff was friendly. I had a single room. It was acceptable. Especially considering the cost of Moscow accommadation. A bit noisy one night! It's very central though. You can walk to Red Square and there is a subway stop nearby.

Godzillas is a hostel located very centrally, just a 15min walk from red square and close to everything else. its just a 2min walk to the metro
its 2000 roubles for a private room with shared shower.
it has decent sized kitchens and a common area.
they can do airport pick ups for a fee
i stayed there again in april 2010 and decided that it isnt so great, the rooms are very basic - better to stay at yellow blue bus as its a better location and the double rooms are better, although dearer
