Flights from Moscow to London/Dublin?

by Drugness

Hello all
Can anyone recommend who it would be best to travel with when flying from Moscow to London/Dublin? 1 changeover or none at all is the preferred route i travel. I'm aware that this route won't be cheap but what can ya do. Also, i'm not limited to just these 2 cities... as long as i can get a connection to Dublin.

Cheers!

DG

If you are in Dublin you can fly Aer Lingus to Heathrow and then change to British airways to Moscow. There are no cheap Ryanair style flights to moscow yet.

Oh come on. Any airline will do. Including Aeroflot (but they don't go to Dublin). Just check all their websites.

Cheapest option is probably airBaltic via Riga.

looks like there are no low-cost companies to Britain/Ireland from Moscow. as far as i understood from the previous forums you first go to StP and then in Moscow. but maybe you should back to StP and then to Finland where you can get Ryanair?
...
wow!! just checked some Russian airlines and found that S7 airlines offer the flight to Dublin! for example the flight on November 23 costs RUR 5580 (EUR 155) but you must pay online for the electronic tichet . if you will buy in the ticket office it will be RUR 8500 (EUR 236).
look at www.s7.ru - the english is available

Fly Ryanair to Riga and then take a Airbaltic flight to Moscow.

Travel Tips for Moscow

Find someone local. The city...

by jimmyz

Find someone local. The city is enormously expensive if you are just going tourist. I stayed in an apartment with a friend and it was magnificent. Of course, Red Square, but I enjoyed visiting various convents and churches for their architecture and overall ambiance. Definitely the people. Everyone I met was very hospitable. I have Russian ancestry and this helped break the ice.

Arkhangelsky Cathedral

by bugulma

The first mentioned church in this place was built in 1333 in honour of Mikhail Archangel, the protector of Russian troopers. In 1505-1508 the stone cathedral was built. Till XVII century the cathedarl was a place where Russian Tsars were buried.

Metro Station " Kievskaya"

by kris-t

Station " Kievskaya ". Pillons are reveted with white Ural marble "koelga" and are topped with a complex ceramic cornice. On the arch in huge modelled medallions frescos are located. In facing walls the white and black marble is used. The floor is laid out with grey granite.

A special day

by TheWanderingCamel

Throughout Russia, the much-loved holiday of Feast of the Holy Trinity is celebrated in June. Houses are decorated with branches cut from birch trees , transforming them into woodland glades. The floor is strewn with cut grass and wildflowers. Celebrating in this way dates back to to ancient days as this feast day coincides with the old pagan holidays called Zeleniye Svyatki, or "Green Christmastide," which celebrated the worship of the "Spirits of Greenery." The birch tree was very important for these holidays, which explains why branches of the birch tree are still used to decorate houses and churches.

Even non-believers will often mark this day by visiting the graves of relatives and friends, leaving food on the tombs, though this practice has nothing to do with Christianity. The tradition is to give the dead some vodka or other alcohol and something to eat with it, such as bread or candy. It is considered a good thing to find that the offerings have disappeared when you come to the cemetery again.

Visitors to churches at this time will find, in the same tradition as in people's homes, the iconostasis is decorated with fresh young birch saplings, grass and flowers are scattered on the floor and an icon of the Holy Trinity is prominently displayed.

What to wheare?

Winter in Moscow is not as cool as people say it is. All you will need is and good winter jacket and sweater's. Please keep in mind men there do not wear fur coat's. And when you get there it would be a good idea for you to buy a hat like Tim's (at the picture).
