Marriott Tverskaya

An expensive hotel but within walking distance to Red Square & nearby to Belorusskaya metro station. The area round the hotel seemed safe both by day & night, as Tverskaya Street goes direct to Red Square it's easy to walk back to on an evening.

The hotel was clean & tidy. The design is impressive both inside & out. As well as the standard business facilities there's a handy gift shop & ATM in reception. The hotel has a restaurant & a lobby bar, this was an ideal place for a snack & drink on return from a day sightseeing.

Directions: On Tverskaya Street near to Belorusskiy railway station & Belorusskaya metro station. About 30 mins walk to Red Square.

In november of 2005 I took part in the technical review with Boeing Company.
It was very good organised and equipped with facilities.

Make sure if you're staying at the Marriott Tverskaya to say the whole name there is more than one Marriott in Moscow . Our bus driver that was picking us up went to the wrong Marriott we only had 15 minutes to spare when we got to the train station!

Very expensive and they weren't very friendly, but did answer the phone in Russian and all you had to do is say English and they changed to speaking english. We had a room booked at a special rate for 180. but the group had to stay an extra night and was charge 325.00 per room the next night! In the evening it was loud from the bar on the first floor lots of men drinking looking for women? I didn't feel safe walking around in the evening there. But the doormen did keep out the locals. We forgot our friends room number while waiting for them on the first floor and they wouldn't give it to us told us to go over and use the courtesy phone in the lobby, very frustrating, had to have a room number to call a room! I ended up going back up to my room and dialing back down to the front desk and then they put me right through to the friends room, by asking them to put me through to another room just by using their name didn't need the room number if I was using a room phone. For the price even though they spoke english I would have stayed somewhere else that was more reasonable, we didn't need them for nothing but checking in our room.

Unique Quality: Was easy to find everyone knew where it was at.

Staying at a good hotel is well worth it in Moscow. Moscow is so busy and crazy, that by the end of the day, you will need the comort and quiteness associated with a good hotel. None of the good hotels are cheap, but i have found this to be relatively reasonable for the standard.

The service is friendly (not typically russian), they smile and will help you out. The reception is small, and so is the restaurant, but i find this actually quite nice. I have stayed in many big hotels and prefer the slightly smaller or boutique ones.

Unique Quality: Massages - relatively cheap and easy to book.
Rooms are comfortable, have most facilities and are clean and tidy.

Directions: Slightly north,, near the brown line for the underground. it is a little further out then some hotels, but this has never bothered me.
