Nice, clean hotel. Several restaurants, decent business center and meeting facilities. Good front desk and concierge service. Conveniently located right next to Kiev station with easy access to city center.
Unique Quality: Great indoor pool and fitness center.
Directions: Right next to Kiev station
Quality accomodations in the heart of Moscow. This hotel is a short underground ride from Red Square and is located beside one of Moscow's trains stations. It is certainly not a cheap place to stay but it is clean and safe.
It's a good hotel, though I've stayed in better. Hideously over-priced, but that holds true for most things in Moscow. You won't get your luggage up to your room until you lose a 100 Rouble note (about $3 but 150 Rupees to us Indians!)
I stayed there because I was told it's about the only decent hotel in the city. Some colleagues stayed at the Ukrainia and said the service was very poor. Not that it was great here - most of them have a problem with English - but it wasn't too bad.
There's a movie hall in the back, a pretty good gym and pool and a casino. The last is open only to members and their guests; for hotel guests there's a pretty steep additional entry fee.
Unique Quality: My room had a nice view of the city and the frozen Moskva river, with the Kievskaya station off to one side (check out the photo).
The other (slightly frightening) thing about this hotel (and perhaps all Moscow hotels) is the number of pretty girls in the lobby, waiting for you to take them up to your room. Depressing to think that these lovely women can't get much other work. And frightening that the hotel has a pretty obvious pay-off system operating. The entire scenario left a pretty bad taste in the mouth. What I really liked about the place was the restaurants (ground level, off the lobby). I usually hate Japanese food, but their sushi place had me wanting more. And the breakfast buffet in the Mediterranean thingy was to die for - imagine champagne and peaches to finish off breakfast, 5 days in a row. No wonder I put on weight!
Directions: Somewhere south of the Kutuzovsky Prospect (do I have that right?) on the bank of the river.
