Hotel Sputnik ***
The hotel built in 1967 and reconstructed in 1981 is located in Leninsky prospect - one of the longest and most important expressways of Moscow. The hotel's upper floors offer a magnificent view over the city: the old Kremlin, Moscow University and Vorobyovy Hills, Neskuchny garden, Gorky Park, the stadium Luzhniki and the Moskva River.
10 minutes drive to the Kremlin (5 km).
The hotel Sutnik has got 376 rooms, including 24 junior suites. All rooms are equipped by hot lines, TVs, ìini- bars, safes, hair dryers, baths or shower rooms

In the picture you see a monument to Yuri Gagarin, the first man in the space. The hotel Sputnik is located not far from it. Younger generation may not remember what the word 'sputnik' means, but I should remind you that once, just overnight, in October 1957, this word rushed into all languages of the world. It means 'satellite'. Russia (the USSR at that time) was the first country to send a satellite into the space on 4 October 1957.
Unique Quality: The hotel itself is said to be a clean and nice, but not luxurious place. The personnel speaks English. Maybe this is what an average traveler needs? Visit pages of Agent_Mulder, he stayed there in 2001, and may have more information on the hotel.
