Applying for a Chinese/Mongolian visa from Moscow
by minesh1112
Hi everyone,
I apologise if this has been asked before and if this post is in the wrong place. New here.
Basically I'm a British national currently studying in Moscow until June and am wanting to do the Trans-Siberian straight after I finish. I'm just concerned about visas. Can I obtain visas for China and Mongolia whilst not actually being in my national country? Is it possible to do this in Russia without sending my passport off by courier? My main worry is being stopped by the militsia (even though I've been here 5 months and have had no trouble yet) and being checked for documents and my photocopies not being enough.
Thanks for advance for any help or information.

I am doing the same trip next month, I have used a company called realrussia.co.uk whos main office is in Moscow look at their website they will get your visas for you £85 for China,£65 Mongolia and if you need train ticket I paid £410 second class or £600 1st. A bit expensive but all done for you.

Cheers mate, I checked the website and it seems that I can definitely get the Chinese visa whilst still in Russia. Mainly concerned about China- I'm happy to give Mongolia a tap on the head.
Let me know how your trip goes.

This is what you see when walking around the city, and even more. It is so intresting, all the contrast, the poor the rich, the tourist, but the local people too.
You can shop for the most expencive stuff, but go bargain hunting too.

May 9 - Victory Day
by bugulma
It's great occasion of victory in World War II. In this day in 1945 Germany signed capitulation and the most bloody war was over. Every year you can see veterans of the war in the streets and parks with medals. Year by year there are less veterans because most of them were young in the war times and now they're old. Nevertheless we still see them. Thank them for stopping Fascism.
ATM cards work just fine
by sjvessey
Before we went to Moscow there was much debate at work as to whether you needed to take cash dollars, or euros, or whether Sterling would be OK. Honestly, I never understand why people get so worked up about this kind of thing. Maybe there is some kudos to be had in making out you're going to a place that is so backward that they've never heard of debit cards. Or maybe there's some fear that for some bizarre reason US dollars will be the only currency anyone wants. Well, this might have been the case in Russia 30 years ago, but trust me, withdrawing rubles from an ATM with a Visa debit card and using them to buy stuff is no problem at all...
