Tallinn to St Pertersburg Eurolines

by jessie24

Hi there
Im getting a eurolines overnight bus from Tallinn to St Petersburg soon and I was wondering if it is safe for me to do this? Im a 24 year old female travelling by myself and I'm having second thoughts on my money saving tactic!!
Should I just suck it up and book the train? Flights are crazy expensive!

Hello!
Keep an eye on your belongings and everything will be OK. And don't leave your passport, money, cards in a bus when you go out. I do this evewhere.

I have travelled to St Petersburg several times this way with no problems. Takes about 2 hours to clear both customs and you need to take your luggage from coach to be X-rayed at Russian border.

Travel Tips for Saint Petersburg

A different Russian atmosphere!

by Pavlik_NL

Just walk through it's centre. For example from the Palacesquare (Hermitage) along the Nevskii Prospekt. At Kazan-cathedral go left along the canal to colourful Spasnaya. Over Marskovo-fields and the Troitskii-bridge you enter the Peter & Pavel-fortress and out it on the other side. Again a bridge (what do you want, the city has hundreds of them) onto Vasilevskii-island. Nautical Museum, Rostra-columns and Kunstkammer and again over the Lt.Smit-bridge. Towards the St.Isaak-cathedral and through the park along the Admiralty back to the Hermitage. Sitting in the sun in font of Saint Isaak's cathedral together with my Irina, that I met here for the first time in person.

The Admiralty

by Klod5

The Admiralty building was constructed in 1823 as the administrative headquarters of the Russian Navy. Designed by Andreyan Zakharov, it is best known for its impressive central tower and crowning gilt spire. Rising to a height of over seventy meters, the spire is surmounted by a brilliant windvane in the form of a frigate, which has become the ubiquitous symbol of the city. The Admiralty's ornate facade is laden with appropriately nautical sculptures and reliefs, and looks out over the trees and statues of the pleasant Admiralty Garden.

If you speak some russian and...

by borcsi

If you speak some russian and be able to learn how to say 'Two tickets please' without an accent, you can try to get into museums as russian. You can save a lot as fees could be as low as 1/10th of the normal price. (Although, it is hard, if you don't look like russian, they will spot it out easily and you have to pay the full rip-off-rich-western-tourists price... :(( )

Canal Griboedova or Moika

by filip007

Just quit the main prospects to the west side and follow one of these canals till the end and the other till Krlukov canal or even further...

Palaces, merchant houses, tree lined canals and few people coming your way...

And by the way, the name Griboedov means mushroom eater...
