Russian visa

by alectrevor

Am i right in thinking that a russian visa is valid to 23-59 pm on the last date on visa ? Thanks.

Re: Russian visa

by bugulma

never had Russian visa (cause of I'm Russian) but YES. Although once I had schengen visa and was in hurry to get a flight at 1 am next day and to pass control till midnight of the day printed in visa :-))

Re: Russian visa

If you are going to Russia don't forget you also need to have a "sub-registration" card filled out and signed by your hotel, and carry it around with you!

Hello Alec,

If you are going on an individual trip I wouldn't worry too much about the Visa, as long as you order it by yourself. Then you should make sure to apply for a visa with the maximum time period (e.g. 30 days), even though you might stay shorter.

I hope this helps

Great point Holger,my two trips to Russia I added 5 extra days at the end of my stay in case of missing a flight or a canceled flight. If your flight gets canceled to a date after your visa expires there is and additional fine to pay and you be detained until your paperwork is in order.

Re: Russian visa

Hello Pete,

Yes, that exactly is the reason. Also for some reason one can get ill or something like that.

The visa charges are the same anyway, so it is highly recommended to apply for the maximum time period.

Re: Russian visa

by globetrott

the only problem with these extra days is that you need someone to also give you an "invitation" for these extra days ! When using one of the "visa-services" that will work fine, but when booking a hotel they will not add any extra days, except that you pay also for the extradays without staying there anymore.

Travel Tips for Saint Petersburg

International Students.

by zambg

When you are here in St. Petersburg, you will feel more home if you get some of your countrymen of friends here. To get friendly help for you, when you are a new commer, you can visit the ISA's website at http://isaspb.narod.ru and they have a yahoo group where you can post message and you will get the reply. I got my country people and was happy to see them. So, I travelled as a local, cheap and comfortable. try this! Hermitage, Nevsky, International environs, Local cafes (Typical russian!).
I honor the International Students Association there. Architecture and Girls.:)O

Weather on the Internet

by sennaya

St. Petersburg gets all four seasons, sometimes a bit unpredictably.
The long days of white nights in June do not mean it will be always warm, carry a sweater and umbrella! It can rain most any time of year, though January and February are the coldest and there will be a glaze of ice on sidewalks.
Beign by teh Finaldn gulf, the air can often be damp and chilly, beware of cold drafts, wear a scarf in Spring and Fall.

Zenith St.Petersburg

by mingul

If you are lucky to catch a match of the local Zenith St.Petersburg while being in the city, make sure to pay a visit to their Petrovsky Stadium. Tickets might be hard to find, but it is really worth it. Lately Zenith has become a strong challenge for the traditional Moscow giants. The colours of the local team are sky blue and white.

Wedding Ceremony

by sophiebeans

On the day we visited St. Vladamir's - on a Monday - we saw a wedding ceremony being performed. Unlike the church services I am used to in America, the churches in Russia are open to anyone at just about any time, no matter what happens to be going on inside. I kind of felt like an intruder coming into the church during this sacred cememony, but apparently it's no problem in Russia.! I felt lucky to be able to witness it! The family members attending the ceremony were taking lots of pictures of the bride and groom, so I snuck one in, too.
