St Petersburg -> Ivangorod -> Narva (Estonia)

by wcph

*Sorry* about the double post, I got a server error so here's my final question.

Where does the bus from St Petersburg to Ivangorod arrive at? Is the location walkable to Russia customs control?

Then how far apart is this to Estonia passport control? Can I walk into Narva town after this?

Many thanks for your help.

Travel Tips for Saint Petersburg

Guidebooks

by Dabs

Be sure to get the most up to date guidebook you can. Things seem to change very rapidly here.

My favorite guidebooks are usually Eyewitness guides which have in depth features on the major attractions with excellent pictures. They also have excellent street maps.

I also picked up the Cadogan guide for St. Petersburg as it had a lot of additional information that was interesting.

I didn't get Lonely Planet for St. Petersburg but I liked the Moscow book for it's off the beaten path stuff and the maps that had points of interest, restaurant and hotels all marked on the maps which makes it easy to arrange your day.

White night make long, long days full of fun.

by Pavlik_NL

During the longest days in June Saint Petersburg is celebrating it's White Nights. The sun doesn't set and whole 'night' parties are on the street. Live music on many places and among it the famous Peterburg-Rock is highly recommendable. Drinking (now-a-days Vodka is more and more replaced by the excellent Baltica-beer) is a must for Russians and there friends. The atmosphere is wonderful in those days and many sleep oustide. Especially when they forget about time and cannot return to there homes when at midnight the bridges are all opened and stay that way until the early morning.

Climb St. Isaac's Dome

by grandmaR

After we saw the inside, the guide took me back to the car and my granddaughter climbed to the top of the dome which I understand is the fourth highest in the world - St. Peter's being the tallest. She said her legs burned afterwards, as there are over 300 steps up to the cathedral's colonnade.

The Colonnade observation point is open: Thursday to Tuesday, 11am to 6pm, last admission is at 5pm Closed: Wednesdays

Although the website says photography is forbidden here, we did not find this to be the case.

Winter Sun tan at Peter and Paul Fortress

by sennaya

It is surprising how the first sun feels so warm as winter starts to relent its hold.
Locals gather along the Peter and Paul Fortress to gather the first warm rays as they bounce off the ice and wallls of the fortress. Each ray is savored as the joy of spring seems not so far away.
