    The Grand Hotel Europe -
    one of the world's truly "Grand Hotels" with a history that dates back to the time of the Tsars. Great care was taken to preserve the building's distinctive nineteenth century architecture including its ornate baroque facade and elegant main staircase but also has surprisingly modern facilities of Russia's leading Hotel.

    It just a few steps off Nevsky Prospekt, the main avenue of St.Petersburg and most famous street of Russia.

    In Russia, nothing is cheap, so you wouldn't be surprised to pay EUR 200-350 for a standard/Deluxe room in a 5 Star Hotel. I stayed in the Grand Hotel Europe just one night.

    If you are looking for decadent luxury you are sure to find it here (I luckily did not have to pay for it).

    The service and cleanliness of the rooms are full Five Stars.

    The location is perfect. The Hotel is located conveniently directly on the Newskij Prospekt where you can walk safely around even at nigth. Around the hotel you have a lot of restaurants to choose from and can take care of personal things like Banks etc.

    I was on business Trip for just one night, so I cannot write much about facilities and sight seeing high lights. The central location however makes it easy to start your excursions.

    The Breakfast Buffet was very good. The breakfast room/restaurant has a beautiful architecture and is worht seeing.

    It was kind of arranged trip from my company ....... so they arranged the stay in this hotel and no doubt this is one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in, their hospitality, service and decor everything is worth having a look at, also the location of the hotel is also very nice :)..... this building started in 19th centurty as a hospital and then I think it was somwhere around 1950 they renovated this place and made it a hotel.

    Perhaps best 5-star location on Nevsky Prospect.

    Even if you do not stay ether there are several upscale restaurants, including Chinese food.
    Beatiful atrium dining room for a $10 cup of coffee.
    Tourists can find them friendly (and price accordingly) and a good place to make an assisted phone call or get some tour information.

    The rooms range from about $400-700 a night and the decor is supurb.

    If you can afford this is the best hotel of Russia and one of the best in Europe
    if you cant afford try to make other economies and try this hotel at least for one night.
    You will have an experience to share with your children

    Everything is unique but something unforgettable is to have beluga caviar with Dome Perignon in the breakfast

    • 3 days spent at this central location is pretty hard to beat, except price-wise. Service a little cool, wonderful restaurants, royal public areas, rooms spectacularly unspectacular (undermining the room rate).

    The location truly cannot be beat. Around the corner from the Church of the Spilled Blood and the Mariinskiy Theater and only the shortest of walks from the Hermitage. The breakfast room is an Art Nouveau masterpiece, and the Caviar Restaurant is -- surprisingly -- a remarkable value (compared to, say, Petrossian Restaurants worldwide).

    • Beautiful hotel, great food with a choice of several restaurants. Shopping is limited and very expensive

    Great furnishings - the hotel bar is really great - has several of the Fabrage Egg vodka sets that go for about 1500USD. Lots of big burly guys with ear pieces (the squiggly ones that bodyguards wear) all over the place when I was there.

  • Directions: right on Nevski Prospect near the canals and sightseeing - close by tourist attractions, so you can walk. Not too far from the Winter Palace.
