Considering the Ladoga Hotel in Saint Petersburg?

Spectacular Palaces by wizzdol
Hermatage, Peterhof, Catherine Palace. St Petrsburg was all that I expected and more. We only had 2 very long and wonderful days there on our Baltic Cruise but I was so impressed with it. Our trips from the Cruise ship were VERY expensive. Just a couple of things which might help other people visiting these places. We were told that everywhere on our cruise would take Euros or US Dollars, they will if you want to buy goods.In all the palaces you are not allowed to take in a drink as some idiot once took in some acid in a water bottle and threw it at a painting! We were there in July 2008 and it was very hot, when we went to the cafe for a drink they will only take Rubels and the Russians are not very helpful about changing money.Catherine Palace ,the inside is unbelievable and Peterhof Gardens and fountains.
