Nevsky Inn , perfect location near Hermitage

I am here right now having breakfast at the Nevsky Inn in St Petersburg, using Wi-Fi, and having my daily oats, bread with cheese and 2 boiled eggs. This has been my early energizer for the past 3 days, and it’s okay they don’t have bacon or sausage although some might want those. This is an nice inn on the third floor on a building just beside the famous Nevsky Prospect, and a short walking distance from the Hermitage. I arranged for the hotel/inn to pick me up from the airport while I was still in the USA (through email with Elena). Driver was easy to spot on exit holding Nevsky Inn sign, and we stopped by a red door, and then climbed 3-4 floors and it was like going back to the 1940’s because the floors were cement, not carpeted and the way up was reminiscent of a bygone era (this must have been a communist flat before)…But once, you open the new door on the third floor, you are welcomed onto clean laminated wooden floors and I was greeted by Heidi who is of Finnish descent and I think daughter of the manager. My room was big (room #5) with two single beds and a nice big window, view is the building and street slightly perpendicular to the Nevsky Prospect. There was a safety deposit box and you are given three keys (for room, inn door at third floor, and for outside door leading to street). There are just a few rooms and it is nice because it is not like a busy hotel, you can have them do your laundry for only about 8 USD (200 rubles). Wi-Fi is fast and easy. Bathroom has strong, quick hot/cold controls, although very small. At checkout, you can either pay cash or credit card, but they prefer cash (euro or dollar, or rubles). Overall, a nice hotel for someone who is new to Russia and would like easy access to the main road, Nevsky Prospect. Definitely not for disabled though because you have to climb up three floors.

Unique Quality: Just walking distance from Hermitage

Nevsky Inn Bed & Breakfast

If you want a cheap, central, clean and friendly place to stay in St Petersburg, then look no further than the Nevsky Inn Bed & Breakfast.

I couldn't believe my luck when I came across this place when researching our trip. It seemed way too good to be true...happily we weren't disappointed.

Nevsky Inn is located just off Nevsky Prospekt, only a few minutes walk from the Hermitage, and around 10 minutes walk from the nearest metro station (Nevsky Prospekt).

Unique Quality: Owned by a very friendly and helpful British guy, John, it is a small homely feeling place. There are only 7 rooms, but they are large and all have bathrooms. Our room was very spacious and clean.

There is a kitchen area where breakfast is served, and you can use the facilities if you like.

The B&B is located on the 4th floor of an old building - it looks terrible from the outside, but don't be put off by that. The only negative aspect would be that there is no lift....not a problem for us, but maybe for those who have a problem with climbing the stairs.

This place was really good value for the quality and location. Our room was 75 euros, which included a hot breakfast and the friendliest service you could ask for.

Highly recommended.
