    I was staying in this hotel for two weeks. I have nothing to complain, good cleaning service, satellite tv,, good breakfast. Two 24hours bar inside the hotel and also an internet centre is situated inside the hotel. .

    The Hotel is located in the centre of St Petersburg,opposite the Moskow railway station. It is at the end of Nevsky prospect so very central and easy for you. Very close to museums, shops and restaurants

  • It is a good hotel in the city-center, in front of the Moscow train station. Ligovsky crossed by Nevsky. I went walking from there to everywhere. Note the writing on top of the hotel. It means: "Hero City Leningrad"

  • Oktyabrskaya has a 'filial' diagonally opposite the main building across Ploschad' Vosstaniya, entry from Ligovskii Prospekt. This is a little cheaper than the main hotel and was renovated sometime around 2001/2. The rooms are comfortable and the whole place is very European.

    Both parts of the hotel are only a few minutes' walk from the metro station Ploschad' Vostanniya. You can get to Mayakovskaya metro without having to cross Nevskii. It's also directly opposite Moskovskii Vokzal, the station for trains heading in the Moscow direction.

  • It's relatively good value I think. I paid about $50 US for a pretty good single room, and there are good facilities. I was bothered by some of the sex workers plying their trade in the hotel, but after I complained to the floor lady I had no problems. The location is really good too, very close to the metro station and to the Moscow train station.

  • I hated this place - I had been on a trip last summer (2003) to Minsk, St. Petes, Moscow and Odessa - but the Oktyabrskaya was the most unpleasant hotel. We stayed in the 'annexe' - perhaps that was the problem - in rooms meant to be renovated - but they were spartan apart from the company of mosquitos. Breakfast was dreadful too with little choice but stale bread. Going to the Pribaltiskaya this year - will let you know how that goes.

    Hotel Oktiabrskaya is situated in the centre of St. Petersburg, on the crossing of Nevsky and Ligovsky prospect, with museums, theatres, largest shops, and restaurants. The main building of the hotel is the oldest hotel dated from the middle of the 19th century.A parcel of land, which Oktiabrskaya currently occupies, went down into St. Petersburg history as early as the middle of the 18th century. A building of Oktiabrskaya hotel was designed by architect A.P.Guemilian.Oktiabrskaya Hotel is conveniently located in a walking distance from Moskovskiy train station and is a good option for those arriving from Moscow by train.

    DINING:The Oktiabrskaya Hotel offers disappointingly basic dining facilities. Unfortunately breakfast is not included in the room price, and the only on-site breakfasting option is a small cafe, so I highly recommend guests opt for breakfast outside the hotel. The Lobby Bar is basic and uninspiring, although it does offer a reasonable selection of alcoholic drinks and light snacks.
