Bed Bugs - Be on guard
Recently went on a tour of Russia and spent 3 nights at this hotel and was absolutely disgusted by the place.
The room was infested by BED BUGS and the staff were uninterested.
Plus the rooms were very basic with no amenities - no safe and there was a lack of airconditioning plus the room smelt.
The lobby was filled with smokers - very unpleasant
Unique Quality: There were no outstanding characteristics, it was a very unpleasant experience to stay at this hotel

Good Location and freindly
The room was very clean and comfortable, lovely crisp white bed linen and towels. There aren't any tea making facilities so if you like a morning cuppa bring your own kettle, tea etc, there's no hair dryer provided either.
There is a small supermarket next to the hotel but not much else close by, a small "Irish" bar that serves basic food, and a Chinese restaurant.
Unique Quality: Great Breakfast-Buffet,free internet great location

Pribaltiskaya On the Gulf, away from the center
Location away from the center along the Finland Gulf. 1200 rooms.
Watch out for unrenovated rooms with small twin beds.
Some tour groups get stuck here.
Unique Quality: Next to the big new Waterpark,
www.waterville.ru
and near the LenExpo center
www.lenexpo.ru
. But far from the center.
If you will spend all your time walking in the center, you would rather be closer.

I stayed here on a business trip in '96. A 1,200 room monster, built in the 1970s
My hosts chose the hotel, and choice may have been limited as the trip was arranged at fairly short notice.
It is miles from anywhere, and (at that time) was not wonderful inside. No doubt it will have been renovated since then, but check first! They can't change the location, however.

4-star hotel facing the Gulf of Finland
I stayed at the Pribaltiskaya during my 3-day stay in St Petersburg. The room was of international 4-star standard and had a view of the Gulf of Finland. There was an in-house currency exchange bureau, tour agency, post office as well as souvenir shops and boutiques. The Pribaltiyskiy Restaurant on the second floor is a huge ballroom-like restaurant where breakfast is served. During the summer tourist season, it can get very crowded and you will most probably have to share tables. The breakfast buffet spread is sumptous.
Unique Quality: Located at the western end of Vasilievsky Island, the Pribaltiskaya offers great views of the Gulf of Finland. There is a seaside Japanese restaurant and bar where you can chill out with a beer or vodka with sushi while enjoying the cool breeze from the Gulf of Finland. There is a newly opened Aqua Park where you can indulge in various water sports and activities.

Very big Hotel
Had a renovated room that was ok.Room was on 16th floor overlooking the entrance.Room had small refrig,safe an cable tv,overall room was acceptable to me.No internet in room but free WIFI In the Lounge Bar on main floor.They are also building an agua park for hotel quest.There is a pool,
an bowling alley,.About 4 restaurants in Hotel an food was above avg at the restaurant I eat at.The problem with this hotel is you are so far from center of city,if you do not have your own transportation
taxis will cost you.about 900 rubles to downtown St Pete,an if you stay in city late you may not get back,you need know what bridges are open an when they open ,I think they close between 1-6 in the morning.
Unique Quality: Nice hotel if you come on a cruise an you are with a tour group that has transportation,otherwise it is just to far from center city.The hotel was very clean an alway had English speaking help at desk.
To make outside phone call from room you must leave a deposit at front desk,they wanted me to deposit $95.00 or you can make call from lobby desk,

Room with a view down the sea
Good big hotel with all apropriate modern facilities.
Hotel is usual used for conferences and other events and for groups of tourists. Not very suitable for individuals as it is rather far from main sightseeing places and public transport.
Unique Quality: The most exciting is the view down the seaside. I was lucky last time to have room with appropriate window orientation.
NOTE: that only rooms with numbers xx36...xx41 at each level face at the seaside.

One of the best
The Hotel is located on the Gulf of Finland which is within a 10-15 minute drive to city centre and 5 minutes to Lenexpo - Exhibition Complex. The 17-story hotel boasts 1200 rooms, including 60 luxury suites. Facilities include a service bureau, sauna, swimming pool, and a bowling alley.
Unique Quality: There are numerous restaurants, banquet halls, and bars as well as a large convention hall with a 900 person seating capacity and another convention room that will hold 250. The hotel's business centre serves as a convenient "home-office", equipped with fax-machines, copiers, computers, international direct-dial telephones, and typing and secretarial services

Which bridges?
When tourists arrive from Pulkovo airport or Moskovsky Vokzal to hotel Pribaltiyskaya or Morskaya - which bridges must they cross? Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, when you go from Moscow railway station you need to cross Dvortsovy or lieutenant Smidt bridge. These bridges are over the Big Neva river.
But if you go from Pulkovo you need to cross Obvodny Canal, Fontanka River, Griboedov Canal and Moika River and then cross the Big Neva River to Vasilyevsky Island where Pribaltiyskaya is located.
