One of the most interesting museums I've visited so far is Museum of Ocean in Kaliningrad. To be true we were not interested in to see exhibitions in the museum buildings but the chance to visit submarine and the scientific ship. The museum is situated on Pregolya River, along Bagramyan Street (not far from Kant Island and Cathedral). The museum was founded in 1990 and first exhibits were open in 1994.
The wonderful landscape is quite the same as in the Northern (Lithuanian) part but you do not find such nicely kept fishermen villages here. Places like the former Pillkoppen or Rossitten look neglected and ruined - the difference to Lithuania is a veritable cultural shock, but both was half a century under the same Soviet rule and the whole area - the Lithuanian part of the Couronian Spit included - was an off-limits military zone.
Rosgartener Gate (Rossgaerter Tor) is situated in North-Eastern part of the city, not far from Vasilevsky Square. The first gate was built in XVII century. The present view is since 1852-1855 (project of August Stueller). The gate is used for restaurant nowadays.
Well, of, course, the learning system is not the aim of the tip but architecture of Sea Fishermen College. The building complex is former St. George Hospital, founded in 1329. The style we see in present days was formed in 1894-1897 during complex reconstruction of the hospital territory. The college was placed in the buildings in 1952.
Munchhausen Monument is placed in the central park that is very popular place for familiy activity. The monument was placed in 2006 (Georg Pettau sculptor) and show one of the popl=ular moment of tales, the flight onto the cannonball.
