I will be traveling to Novokuznetsk this August 2005.
Can anyone suggest places to stay and things to see while I'm there.
Thanks for yor reply...I was there aprox. seven years ago to adopt a nine year old girl. I am returning with her to try and locate family...A brother and sister as well as her mother if she is still alive. I lost contact with someone that lives in Novokuznetsk. She spoke english very well and could have been able to help us locate family members. We are still going to try on our own but know that it may be difficult. thanks

You can use DHL mail service also in Siberia, in Novokuznetsk.

In Siberia it is a tradition to go to russkaya banya or russian sauna like in all russian regions. The interesting thing that in the local swimming pool it is also sauna and you before and during swimming can go to sauna to heat your body and to drink a cup of tea during your swimming exercises. I like it and suggest it to everybody.
I suggest you to drink local vodka and not famous trademarks vodka in Russia. As you can be sure to drink vodka when you buy a local one and at the same time you aren't sure anymore buying something similar to famous trademark,
One of the best russian ski and snowboarding bases is distant about 80 km from Novokuznetsk Airport, the big advantage of this winter sports western siberian town is that snow is a garantee even when in European ski bases is a summer temperature.
Mezhdurechensk is one of the famous russian sport centers and high quality service winter vacation destination both for sportsmen and families.
The nature of Siberia is a miracle.
