Prodajoot Komnata: Stay with the Russians (rooms for rent)
Everywhere in the streets of Dagomys you will see signs of "Prodajoot Komnata", which means "rooms for rent". The rooms variate from very simple to quite luxereous and are in peoples houses or in small cabins built in the garden. The rooms offer a sleeping place and often also a (shared) bathroom as well as cooking facility (small kitchen). Prices are very reasonable 'til quite cheap and it's a great way to meet up with the Russians. Still, you need some Russian lingual skills, when you are going to use this staying possibilities.
Unique Quality: Meet up with the Russians and stay like most Russians stay along the Black Sea coast.

Dagomys hotel: The collosos that rules the village
The complex is enormous and sticks out over the "shade or green forest" that gave Dagomys it's name. The hotel is placed on the spot where Nicolas II (the last tsar) built his summer residence and has still the small park surrounding it. The tower is one of the biggest hotels along the Black Sea and offers also stays for non-Russians. Sadly the prices are of a very high standard, even for non-Russians!
Unique Quality: Free use of the Dagomys hotel privat beach and (when staying in the higher rooms) a spectacular view over the vicinity.

The Dagomys: A Soviets Dream built for Westerners
Had a strange experience involving the staff and some green tea. One night we fancied some green tea and found a lovely little intimate cafe in the hotel where the staff boasted that it was the same stuff that the president drank when he visited and that there was plenty of it. The next day we went again but the staff swore that there was no green tea and looked at us like we were a couple of idiots. The next day green tea miraculously reappeared!!!!!! What a strange way of treating people!
Unique Quality: The cinema is BRILLIANT ! apart from being able to get a good seat every time, it shows loads of Soviet and Russian movies which is great if you have an interest in them.

Dagomys: Hotel Complex (Beach and Lift Tower)
Hotel Dagomys has its own private beach. To get to the beach from the hotel you need to go down the hill and cross the railroad. To make it more convenient there is a bridge above railroad with a lift-tower.

Motel "Eurasia": Small private hotels
As everywhere in Sochi there are a lot of small private Hotels, Inns, Motels and Pensions. Like this one quite near the big hotel complex.

Starting 01/04/2010 Hotel is closed for reconstruction till December 2012! It will be opened back in 2013 before Sochi Olympic Games 2014
Unique Quality: Personnel was very accurate and polite, we actually had no problems.
Rooms are good though some of them need some minor renovation. Here is the cheapest one - double room w/o cond. It has toilet with shower, two beds, one sofa, sat. TV, refregirator, balcony (view on sea). The price depends on the season. In July it was about $30 per person (+$20 for child), including breakfest and dinner, and all facilities. For our family it was $80 per day all inclusive.
Some other rooms has bath and bidet (instead of just shower), conditioner. Lux has two rooms and two balconies, suite has 4 rooms, 4 beds and 4 balc. (two levels). Max price - $275 (if one person will live in 4 room suite in July-August).

Unique Quality: ... but hotel "Dagomys" is not a privat company it belongs to the Presidential Administartion of RF. That is why personnel there have their own "business" - chaise-longues should be rented (or you can lay on the floor) for 15...30 rbls per hour ($0,5...$1,0). The same rule works for the beach - for free you can take only wooden "lounge".

Unique Quality: Facilities include fitness and three swimming pools with sea water - big indoor pool (50x20 m), smaller rounded (in a photo) and small for children.
You can have beer, ice-cream or coffe just in the pool. The only minus - chute (slide) was not working (it was seriously damaged). Pitty, as it could save you a lot of money going aquapark if you are with children ;-))
Pool is free of charge for all living in a hotel (50 rbl = $2 - for others), but .... (cont)

Dagomys: Giant Hotel Complex
I think this is the biggest hotel comlex in Big Sochi. Built in 1982 as a "reservation" for foreign tourists it can admit up to 2000 guests (even more with neighbouring hotel "Olympijskaya" and motel "Meridian") but has all the facilities needed to live without leaving its territory - beach, many cafes and restaurants, shops, swimming pools, sauna, fitness, barber's shop, travel agency, express photo service, policlinics, cinema, disco and night clubs and many other things.
Starting 01/04/2010 Hotel is closed for reconstruction till December 2012! It will be opened back in 2013 before Sochi Olympic Games 2014
