I just came back from Krasnodar and I was surprised at how much nicer it was then I expected-nice cafes and more modern. I just wanted to forewarn anyone entering Russia with visa to have the migration form filled out. I took a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Krasnodar and I was not told to fill out information for visa checkpoint. I had passport and proper visa stamp and information, but you do need to fill out a migration form for hotel or place of stay to stamp. This form is in Russian only! I was pointed this out at visa station, fortunately there is a sign with English subtitles directing how to fill out on the wall just before the visa kiosk. Although they spoke no English, the security were very nice and courteous unlike the "Old Guard" mentality that I received at the Vilnius and Riga airports (I was told this "Old Guard" demeanor is also provided at Moscow and St. Petersburg airports).

I have been to Krasnodar several times but not during the last ten years.
I plan to vacation there during the Summer of 2007. I am very much looking
forward to visiting many friends there. The only hotel I have stayed at is
Hotel Intourist and it has always been a positive experience. I have many friends there in Krasnodar. I am looking forward to another great
visit to this terrific city.
Though absolutely underdevelopped, the Kuban river is extremely ideal for a wide variation in watersports. Sailing, speedboats, waterskiing and swimming, all are possible on the waters of the wide Krasnodar river. A small marina is available in the Southern district along the river banks, but the boats here are very old and need a lot of maintanance before used in a commercial way.
Two houses jump out in an endless row of remarkable buildings within Krasnodar centre. On Pushkin Square a wonderful fine decorated house in blue-greenish and white. The house belonged to a wealthy family in the days of Jekatarinadar (old name of Krasnodar) and also is now-a-days a museum. The rooms are in old styles and give a good impression of the times before the revolution. Another house is the house of Fjodor Akimovitsh Kobalenko. He lived here from 1884 until 1912. This rich man had a considerable art collection that he gave to the city of Jekatarinodar in 1903 and part of it went into the historical museum.
My city is located near the Black Sea. Territory of Krasnodarskiy Kray is big, some cities are included into it (Sochi, Novorossiisk, Anapa ). It is almost small country. a long time ago cossacks won this ground for Russia and Ekaterina presented the ground to cossacks. at first time this town had name Ekaterinodar (a gift from Ekaterina) then it was renamed like a beautiful (or red) gift - Krasnodar.
No so many people who knows about sights of this territory. a lot of centuries ago a great silk passed way here and as here scientists find traces the Roman civilization. Magnificent sand and stony beaches, the rich underwater world for diving, the mountain rivers for rafting. Yasnaya polyana (Clear Glade) is famous of ski resort and our president likes to come to there.
