Sochi is historically seen famous for it's "Sanatorii" (or Sanatoriums). These health resorts are a combination of a hotel and a hospital and offer health packages to it's visitors and families. Some originate from Sowyet principle that hard work and dangerous labour (often however in relation to the communist party) are entitled to curing along the Black Sea in a Sochi sanatorium. This still can be witnessed in the names of some Sanatorii (Metalurg = steel industries ... Gazprom = a company in oil and gas exploitations etc.). Staying however is not available for non-Russians with the exception of a few more modern Sanatoriums. Especially for those who need or want any kind of treatment (varying from simply massages until revalidation therapies), a stay in a sanatorium could be well recommended.
There was some renovation underway in that time and renovated floors were very comfortable and nice. I do not know if the hotel is still in use and what its’ condition is now.
