www.rentinmurmansk.com: rent a flat
You may also try to rent an apartment, as it is usual and possible in all Russian cities. Therefore I recommend www.rentinmurmansk.com. They are managed by westerners. It was modern, clean and seems to be safe. They usually rent out the apartments for long term, but you may also rent an apartment for a short period.

Hotel Moryak: Bizzar entry hall
I didn't stay in this hotel but the rooms here are cheaper then in Polyarnye Zori hotel. The hall you enter in is very uncosy and looks like some secret underwater lab. This hotel gets booked quickly so you might need to make reservations.

Gostinitsa Poljarnije Zori (Hotel Poliarnie Zory).
An 'Economy' room (it's all right) costs US$30/45 for a single/double.
A 'Standard' room costs US$55/71.
There are also more expensive 'Business' rooms and suites.
Unique Quality: It's a very good hotel and one of the cheapest in Murmansk. If you get a room on one of the upper floors can you get a great view to the harbour.
There's an excellent restaurant at the hotel, and the most expensive rooms have sauna. *All* rooms have TV, telephone, bath and toilet.

My favorite Hotel is Hotel...
My favorite Hotel is Hotel Polyarnie Zory.
about 50 - 70 USD per night and room (2 persons), including breakfast.
Unique Quality: A very good , clean Hotel, good room rates, including a great buffet breakfast, with restaurant and café, clean rooms with bath, shower, TV, Telephone. Look at the home page. Very important for visitors from abroad: This Hotel provides a visa support - this means, that the hotel can send invitation faxes or letters for getting a tourist visa at a russian embassy. Without this support letter it's not possible to get the visa. Plaese ask for visa support, if you need a russian visa.

From memory, we paid the rouble equivalent of $20 a night (but I will check this) - cash, no credit cards
Unique Quality: Apart from the tremendous name, the price was reasonable, it was warm and one of the main nightclubs in town is attached to the building

This Artikel Hotel is just 5 minutes' walk from the Murmansk Railway Station. 3 minutes walk from the Bus terminal. It locates at the central of the Murmansk city.

Don't go to the 'Arktika'...
Don't go to the 'Arktika' hotel; it looks like a russian maffia hotel.
Better is it to go to hotel 'poliarni zori', a modern but relatively cheap ($25 a night) hotel.

Unique Quality: Relatively cheap, cheap restaurant, cafe, bistro (with small dancefloor), tourist information, internet possibility and friendly people.
