The sad zoo of Perm
by globetrott
The Zoo of Perm is situated conveniently along the street that leads from the ship-station to the city and there were only two reasons for me to go there :
1)The Zoo was built in the area of the former monastery and I was hoping to be able to get some unusual photos from that side of the park, but unfortunately that was impossible !
It was quite sad for me to see, how these poor animals have to spend the rest of their lifes, animals that are used to the temperatures of Africa, obviously living also in the winter in small, open cages...
At least the children have a great playground there, see my last picture !
2)Another reason to go to the Zoo was that I had received several bills of 1000 rubles at the ATM-machine and owed 100 rubles to a lady onboard, and paying the entrance-fee of 80 rubles for the zoo gave me a lot of smaller bills.
Papa Lenin did not have to go into Exile
by globetrott
While in many other places of Russia the monuments for Papa Lenin had been taken away after the last revolution in 1989, here in Perm nobody forced him to retire and so you will see his monuments still :
The one on my main photograph is close to the sculpture with the big ears, the other one is inside the park of the State Theatre of Ballet & Opera .
In a glimpse. Or more?

As I visit this city when I go on business trips, so I have'nt see so much yet but a kind of impression I do have by now.
Perm is a nice city, not so small I expected honestly :)
River Kamskaya is quite deep and fast. Unfortunately not very appropriate for swimming.
The embankment is nice and the view is great at any time of the day.
Prices are the same like in Moscow, or even a bit higher - that was a surprise :)
Perm Chinese-Japanse restaurants still serve the tasty food as usual - you may try any.
Hope to tell you more next time!
