a great building
by globetrott
This is another great building that I passed by, while walking from the cruise-port to the city of Perm. Seems to be an adminstration-office or something similar, the building on my main photograph has 2 large lions standing at the entrance-gate.
The lovely blue Art-Nouveau-house
by globetrott
This lovely blue Art-Nouveau-house is my favorite building in Perm and also the local tourguides are all proud of it and will take you there. And like all art-nouveau-buildings you also have to take a look at the accessories like the fences and gates, they will always match to the great architecture of the building.
Perm, Russia

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place"
Not meant to be derogatory, the title of my intro is just the best description I could think of when describing Perm. You see, Perm is situated at the foot of the western edge of the Ural Mountains, thus marking the border between Europe & Asia and is the last official stop of European Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. So, if Moscow is the "hard place" ("hard" meaning solid, firm, resistant to pressure!), Perm is indeed stuck between that and the rocks of the Urals.
Until 1993, Perm was a closed city because its primary industry was military in nature.
