Hello
Unfortunately I couldn't find any Kazan' map in English anywhere. In Russian you can buy it in any bookstore. In any way, there are a lot of interesting places in the center only and you see it in a day. I mean the map is not obligitory thing.

I thing this one it good:

though you can see only Russian names of the streets in Cyrillic transcription. Map is clickable, you can zoom at any square.

Cheers,
Pavel

Since you stop in Moscow, you may want to go to Dom Knigi (big bookstore) on Novi Arbat and buy the guide book "Tatarstan" from the petit fute series (in English). There is a map of Kazan in it. It only costs about 2 USD. I just saw it there today. Enter the building from the door to the right and go one floor up, then it's just to the very left.

Travel Tips for Kazan'

Wladimir Uljanow had to leave the Kazan-university

by globetrott

A young law-student named Wladimir Uljanow had to leave the Kazan-university because of revolutionary activities already after 114 days and still you can see a monument for him opposite of that university. Wladimir Uljanow had to finish his studies in St. Petersburg and you might know him under the name LENIN.
Here in Kazan / Kasan you might see the only monument for Lenin in his young years.

Football

by bugulma

Kazan' city has a football team, Rubin, that takes part in the premier league of Russia. Thans to Alla, who bought me the ticket in advance, I was happy to visit a football game during my visit to the city. It was a game of Rubin vs Luch from Vladivostok. Rubin won 1-0. The ticket, 8th row just in the central area, is RUR 100 (EUR 3 around).

Gostiny Dvor is a museum nowadays

by globetrott

Gostiny Dvor is the name of such a typical shopping-centre like you will find it in many cities in Russia : They are dating back to end of the 19th century and they consisted of several small shopping-counters inside. For the city it was very easy to calulate the taxes that way .
Gostiny Dvor is not a shopping-centre any more, but a museum and you will find it on the big square opposite of Spaskaya tower and the Tourist-entrance to the Kremlin of Kazan.

Annuciation Cathedral - Kazan Kremlin

by Nuclei

One of the main structures in Kazan Kremlin. It was built to the honor of Ivan the Terrible.

The cathedral was closed in September, 1918 because the Kremlin was declared the military camp and all the religious institutions were moved from its territory. All valuables were robbed and their destiny is unknown till today. In 1921 the cathedral was opened again and in 1929 was finally closed. Till 1996 the cathedral served as depository and other departments of the republican archives; the places of burial of the members of higher orders of clergy were used as vegetable stores

The National Library

by ozalp

The most beautiful building of the University area is the library. My friend stopped there just to show me its architecture. Then, the following day, I visited same place again.
The balcony is simply beautiful. I’ve never seen something like that. Its doors and windows are nicely designed. I think I can watch this building for hours.
The lovely decorations of the building façade are impressive. I am sure the interior is astonishing, too. Why didn’t I enter the library in such a cold day?
