Travel from Kazan, (Republic of Tatarstan) to Vyatskiye Polyany, (Republic of Kirov)

by dcrook55

Need info on direct flight from USA to Kazan...then travel onward to the city of Vyatskiye Polyany, (in Republic of Kirov). Vyatskiye Polyany is located about 80 mile East/Northeast of Kazan. Would appreciate hotel/B&B/restraunt recommendations for Kazan and/or Vyatskiye Polyany. Has ayone rented a car in Kazan?...can you drive into another Republic?...can a train be taken from Kazan to Vyatskiye Polyany?

Lev is right - it's better to ask in Kazan forum, as to the rent-a-car to Vyatskiye Polyany - it's about 4 hours by car from Kazan and I can't recommend to do it, taking into consideration the normal condition of the roads in Kirov's region (I live not too far from it). There is a railway connection from Kazan and I guess it's the best way to get to destination. As I could found in Runet there are 2 hotels in Vyatskiye Polyany - ВЯТСКИЕ ЗОРИ" (Vyatskiye Zori) ГОСТИНИЦА

Travel Tips for Kazan'

Kazan railway station

by alla1

You can come to Kazan by air or by train. If you come by train, so the 1st place you see in Kazan is the railway station. It was updated recently. Now it is very convenient and definitely looks great.

Indian Summer

by Lighthouseman

I always look forward to September. There is a short spell of dry sunny weather. In my opinion, there's nothing like the Indian Summer in Kazan, especially in countryside. The leaves turn yellow, red and brown and fall to the ground. It's a beautiful time when the sky is cloudless, the trees around are golden, the air is transparent and it's still warm.
Many city-dwellers have got houses not far from Kazan in the countryside and Indian Summer is the time when they spend week-ends there with friends drinking vine or beer, having BBK and see the Summer off.

Ulitsa Baumana

by RB_Oakes

There's no question this is where the action is in Kazan. Krasny Vostok beer tents are everywhere and the entire town comes down to drink and party. Restaurants, bars and shopping are also to be found here, along with the occasional street performer. And of course the main attraction - Makdonaldz. Look out for the shashlik, though. It was cooked hours ago and then they nuke it. That's just not worth paying $9 for half a skewer.

Kul-Shariff Mosque

by globetrott

Kul-Shariff Mosque is a modern mosque that was built inside the Kremlin of Kazan just a few years ago. There used to be a mosque already in medieval times at this place, but it was destroyed by the troops of Ivan IV.
You are allowed to enter the mosque and most members of our group did, BUT all of your belongings will be scanned like at the airport , when you want to go inside, and I did not want to remove all of my batteries and other photo-equipment, just in order to see a modern mosque.
Photography is NOT allowed inside anyway !
You dont have to take off your shoes, BUT
will get plasic-bags to cover the shoes !
