Did you write the address in Cyrillic? Is the post code correct? Did you use the correct value of stamps?

Kompressornaya sounds real enough. I could find from the Internet that Kompressornaya street in Kazan' was renamed into Khalitova street, But normally it's not a problem in Russian cities, in case the streets change names, people use both names for a long time after renaming. Traditionally our post offices work very badly and probably it was just a mistake. If you want to send something significant, try DHL.

Travel Tips for Kazan'

just walk around the Kremlin
facinating place! The city fortress at the river end of ul. Kremlyovskaya has been rebuilt a number of times over the last five centuries
There is the Annunciation Cathedral 1562, and the 17th centuray 59 high Syuyumbike Tower.

Churches & Cathedrals

by arabian10

Just west of the kremlin is the 16th century St John the Baptist Cathedral & Monastery. (Sobor i Monastyr Ionanna Krestitelya). It is often open and members of the small congregation will be happy to share their travails trying to restore the place. The colourful twin-towered SS Peter & Paul Cathedral (Petropavlovsky Sobor) is on Musy Dzhalilya St. (ulitsa Musy Dzhalilya), between ulitsa Kremlyovskaya and ulitsa Profsoyuznaya. Built in honour of Tsar Peter I after he visited Kazan in 1722, this Russian baroque cathedral has a heavily decorated façade. It is open 7 am to 7 pm daily except from 1.30 pm to 3 pm, when the floors are scrubbed.

Maison de Paris

by globetrott

Maison de Paris is an interesting building in Art-Nouveau-style and you will find it , when walking on Baumana uliza / Baumann-street, about 800 meters from the belfry with the red bricks. In front of that building you will also find a monument showing various distances to important towns all over the world (see it in my 1st photograph)

Tower "Sjujumbikie"

by Pablos_new

Tower "Sjujumbikie" is the "local Pisa Tower" of Kazan'
Every selfrespected town of the world must have its own Pisa Tower.

And of course there is a romantic story about a pretty girl, love, death, etc. related to this tower. :)

Nikola Miracle-man Church

by bugulma

In the end of Bauman Street, not far from Kremlin, this church of XIX century is situated. Wall pictures were painted in 1883. I've found it by chance because I risked to go till the end of the street, although it seemed there will be nothing interesting because last one third of the city is picture of destroyed houses and new buildings in process.
