by bijo69 This is defintely some left over from the Soviet era. A dezhurnaya is garding each floor and the rooms are old fashioned (or is it retro style?) but clean. The toilets on the floor better go undescribed... To shower you have to go the first floor and pay an extra 20 Roubles. Some rooms already have been renovated and have a bathroom attached though. reading in a russian hotel by suvaa003 What can I say, we stayed in the semi luxe room and it was not luxe I can tell you, but clean and we had two rooms, one with the beds and t.v ( wich not worked) and one with a sofa and table and toilet and showerrroom. No breakfast, but we bouhgt bread and used the window ledge as a fridge ( it was winter so that was a cold place) There was not a water kettle but they gave me one so every morning I went downstairs and they boiled water for me so we could have coffe and bread with cheese and yoghyrt
You can have look at Lenin outside, and see the fire station and the local goverment! This is an sample of hotels in the country side, they can get worse or better. But bearwe people do not speak english so communicating if not speaking russian can prove difficult Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterAddress: Plochad lenina 2Directions: Just ask

The rroom I had was VERY well "appointed" a china cabinet with dishes, a "minibar" refrigerator, a comforatble American style queen sized bed a TV, a davan, several extra pillows, blankets . The only real "draw back" was, (as is often the case in European hotels), the lift was TINY I had two suitcases. a camera bag and a backpack. There was bearly room of all this on the car with just myself, so I ended up having to "porter" my own bags to my room. This was supposdly built as a KGB hotel, FAR removed from "downtown" (it only has 66 rooms). BUT right next to the local university campus (just a block away) Plus there is a large confrence center right next door and a business center on the other side toward the street. If you have "business" at the University, this would be ideal! Getting downtown involved selecting the right bus number, walking to the bus stop and riding for 20+ minutes. (MAKE SURE you have a map WITH the bus routes with numbers on it. The inbound routes do not always follow the outbound routes so looking for landmarks can be a real problem!!) The restaurant was nice, breakfast was a mix of eggs cooked to order and a buffet of yogurt, ceral, sliced cheeses and meats, rolls, muffins et al.
Notice the apparent "extra spoace" between some rooms", did the KGB use the large mirrors to spy on it own too?

A small (40 rooms) hotel on walking distance from the center. Good clean rooms. It is very quiet, maybe too quiet.
Large rooms for a good price.

old style between new style by suvaa003 The rooms are big, with a big bathroom, fridge and telly. Breakfast is okay, and the people are nice. It is a small hotel with only 5 rooms. And actualy I did not want to tell you aboyut this hotel because it is my little secret. But I found the adress , but it is listed now in the Lonely Planet. It is central near the tram stop, but you can do most things on foot.
There is a quiet atmpsphere in the horel, and when they know you people make you extra cups of tea. the only - thing is they do not speak English, but they do try to understand you, but be aware they do not regrestir your visa, yoy have to go to the ovir by your self or let a travel agency do it Oh and when you book the hotel your self it will safe you at least 10 euro Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Lenina Prospect 54-6Phone: 500510/08

by Muddybenz I was fortunate enough to rent a flat in Eburg. It was a true exercise in everyday Russian life. Anyone can stay in a hotel, flats are more like upscale camping. :-) feel the culture
They call it a one-room flat but that doesn't include the kitchen area, toilet, and shower/tub areas. For about $10-20 per day, you can get a better cultural feel. I mean I use tostay withfriends, but now when back i stay in a small hotel. Most hoptels are expemcive in ekat. at lest 80 dollars a room when you are lucky, and the prices are going up. Most expencive is the atrium. nice but 250 dollar a night. Service is good but standard rooms are not that big. The iset is set in the middle of the centre, but there to prices are going up, aspecgaly now they are ronvating it. here proces are at least 80 dollars for a standard the plus about those are they will registre you, so you do not have to bother going to the Ovir your self
It is build in the shape of a sickle! And it is big That is the iset. Atrium is just big new buidling, just a bit out of the centre, but near the circus Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensiveAddress: Isiet on Yl lenina, atrium near the circ
