A dramatic episode in the area took place on May 1, 1960 when American U2 spy plane pilot Francis Gary Powers was hit by a missile launched from the local military base. The city was closed to the outside world until 1990 because of its strategic defense industries.
Take a tram to the end station.

And than go back. But remember the station you got on it and tram´s number.
The reason I sugest you take a tram is that trams go on the railways. If you waited too long for it to go back to your station, you can guess the direction somehow. With buses or trolleybuses it will be almost impossible.
It will be a nice excursion and cost you almost nothing.
In rush hours stay next to the windows and do not get nervous.

THE CHURCH OF ASCENSION. FOUNDED IN 1972 AND WAS BEING BUILT FOR ABOUT A CENTURY. IN THE FIRST SOVIET YEARS IT HOUSED EXEMPLARY SCHOOL; DURING 1941-44 IT'S PREMISES WAS USED TO KEEP PART OF THE HEEMITAGE'S EVACUATED COLLECTION OF MASTER PIECES; LATER STILL IT WAS THE HISTORY DEPARTAMENT OF THE MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE. RECENTLY THE TEMPLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO GOD-BELIEVERS. THE CHURCH IS THE ONLY CITY'S RUSSIAN BAROQUE-STYLED TEMPLE.
