Travel Tips for Vladimir

Dmitrievsky Cathedral

by bugulma

Not far from Uspensky Cathedral there is another architecture, Dmitrievsky Cathedral. Cathedral was built in 1194-1197 by Vsevolod III Duke. Unlike the main cathedral of Vladimir Dmitrievsky Cathedral has a look that it had just after building works without any renovated forms. The only work was here is reconstruction. Inside the cathedral you can enjoy wall paintings of XII-XIII century. The entrance fee is RUR 20 (EUR 0.5) for Russians and RUR 80 (EUR 2.3) for foreign citizens.

Nikolo-Kremlevskaya Church

by bugulma

From Dmitrievsky Cathedral towards bus station there is Nikolo-Kremlevskaya Church. It was built in 1769 and it is a good example of the regional barocco style, which was popular in russian cities in Ekaterina II the Great Empress epoche. The interesting thing is there is a planitarium nowadays :-)

Nikitskaya Church

by bugulma

Nikitskaya church was built in 1762. It is situated not far from Golden Gate. The neibourgh of the church is well nown Knyaginin Monastyir' (Princess nunnery). It was a pity, there are trees everywhere around nunnery and my colleague didn't want to come in the territory.

Water Tower

by bugulma

Water tower is situated not far from the Golden Gate and it was built in the end of XIx century. In 1912 it was re-built by Zharov architect. In 1970 the tower was reconstructed and now it is museum.

My personal intrduction to vladimir

by pjlondon

"26th February 2005"

On 26th February 2005 I stayed in the 'Vladimir Hotel'. Arriving late in the evening on a cold Winter night I had little idea about what to expect in the Town. Looking out of my Hotel window early the next morning this picture is a permanent reminder of my first view of Vladimir.

"The Crossroads In Vladimir"

This picture was taken at the 'Crossroad' intersection of Vladimir High Street.
