Hotel Pereslavl: Stay only if desperate
I found this a dreadful historical throwback to the days of Soviet travel. We arrived on Friday morning, and no one told us until we'd gone to our room that there was no water (hot or cold) and the toilets weren't working, either. In true Soviet style, there was no plug for the sink, either. When we complained about the water, the receptionists shrugged and said 'Maybe five o'clock.' The rooms were dingy and cramped and next to the lift so we could hear it groan and creak all day and night. We also were kept awake by various drunken shouting from the next room and outside the back.
The hotel's cafe/restaurant was also a depressing place - with poor food and indifferent service. Very disappointing as the general standard of food I'd had (in Moscow and Sergeiv Posad) had been excellent - good value and tasty.
Unique Quality: The view from our room resembled a third world shanty town, and the delicate stucco work provided by the amount of pigeon crap on the balcony was certainly an unusual touch. Very cheap, but still not worth it - frankly if they gave this accommodation away for nothing, you'd still feel conned.

hotel Pereslavl: large, but adequate
This old, modern-style hotel is being renovated (spring, 2007). It is not expensive, but has no "features". Rooms were small, but in good shape and clean. Not for the "romantic getaway" crowd, but ok for travellers.

West Hotel: good service
Nice lokation, friendly staff, view on river Trubezh from the window.. We liked it.
Reservation is recommended especially for a weekend.

Camping
The daily fee for putting up a tent in the Pleshcheyevo Ozero park is 50 rubles. There are a number of small resorts on the lakeshore where campers can pitch a tent or rent a two- or four-person summer cottage.
The park administration offers excursions around the park, including Pereslavl town, local museums and all the historical sites. Visitors can also buy a fishing permit for 30 rubles a day.
