Hotel " Moscow Path ": Best Room in Rostov the Great
Rooms are very good. The hotel staff are very professional and handled almost everything on visit in outstanding manor. Of the three hotels in Rostov I had dealings with, the staff here is the best. Rooms are very new, completed early 2007.
Nice bar in lobby.
English speaking staff at reception desk were very good. Of all local people I spoke with the receptionist had best English. At one point during stay, I had difficulty communicating in a local shop. I call hotel desk. The receptionist on phone translated for me and cleared up the confussion! (I speak only a little Russian.) She was very helpful. Staff works hard to be sure the stay is best possible experience.
I recommend the staying at this hotel.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE! My fiancee became very ill from the main course. She was treated by nurse for the Food! I eat at this hotel twice during stay. I plan to visit Rostov again and stay at this hotel but NEVER EAT here. Pleshanovs Manor Hotel's "cafe" at Leninskaya st. 34 is where I recommend eating.
Rating of Somewhat Unsatisfied is because of food not because of room.
Unique Quality: Rooms are at stardards of those in USA.

Dom na Pogrebakh: Accomodation in the Castle
Dom na Pogrebakh means House upon Cellarage.
A small hotel with only 17 rooms is placed right inside Rostov's kremlin.
Main advantage of this place is exotic location. You have an opportunity to see what others could not - night kremlin from inside - and walk near walls, towers and cathederals.
5 years ago when I visited this place for the first time they allow residents of the hotel to park cars inside kremlin. That was special swank to enter giant castle gates. Today parking is slightly aside on an old woodstock court.
Unique Quality: Only 2 rooms of 17 have facilities inside, others use public place of convenience ;-) - though shower and toilet are clean and all this makes minor difficulties.
Be aware to make booking in advance - on hollidays it is overbooked.
Two semi-lux rooms are always occupied - due to low price many people book it for the whole month.

Dom na Pogrebakh
Is located in the Kremlin. Offers simple rooms and apartments priced from 350 RUR (~$10) to 950 RUR depending on a room size and view. No private baths.

There's no good hotel in...
There's no good hotel in Rostov.'Intourist' is very oldfashioned.If You really want to enjoy the nature and fresh air,the best place for accommodation is the famouse Left Bank of Don;)where there are many big and small hotels and campings,'Green Parrot' for example(room #777:)or 30 km away 'Kazak Dozor' where You will be very pleased to taste national cousine and to ride horses.
