How to get there

by dilatsaar

Hi, how to get to S. Marino from Rimini? Do you know about schedules???

RE: How to get there

by Manara

There is a regulkar bus service, leaving from the square in front of the railway station. The tickets are sold in the yellow kiosk in the square.
I don't know the schedule, but there must be buses every hour or so, from 8 am to 6 pm.

Travel Tips for San Marino

Passport Stamps

by MikeAtSea

To receive a stamp of San Marino in your passport one has to visit the tourist information office. After they have received the fee of EUR 2.50 one can obtain a tourist visa. There are no border controls since the country is completley surrounded by Italy.

Prison Art in Rocca (I&V)

by Zvrlj

Prisons in the fortresses – it is not local custom of San Marino, it is global custom. But similarly to the Lev Tolstoy’s sentence – "All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way", guess that each prison has its "own way" of being horrible & unhappy place.

The tiny cell of prison in the First Tower of San Marino – Guaita or Rocca is unique for its what may be called – piece of prison art – marvelous wall drawing created by an unknown prisoner. We can only guess how old it is, and hope that it is not modern day tourist trap. But it is very impressive.

The handwriting VT member Orietta recognized as "Ma di tutte le ingiustizie nessuna e piu capitale di quella di coloro, i quali, quando ti ingannano, fanno in modo di sembrare uomini onesti" which could be translated as "Of all injustices, none is more appealing of the injustice of those who, while
deceiving you, appear to be honest", and which is probably the quotation of Cicero. We thank her for effort on helping us.

The Three Towers of San Marino – Cesta (I&V)

by Zvrlj

The Second Tower – Cesta or Fratta stands on the highest point of Mount Titano and it is depicted on the national flag and the coat of arms of San Marino. It was built in the 13th century and it was restored many times during the centuries.

Since 1956 the Second Tower houses the Museum of Ancient Arms, where many pieces of ancient armours and weapons are now exhibited.

Private Museum - Museum of Torture Instruments

by gordonilla

I was not sure what to expect - especially as it was billed as a unique and world famous museum. More than 100 instruments of torture from around the world.

Hours may vary; check their website for details.

They do not permit photography inside the museum.
