Candlelight tour at Bojnice castle

by skj

I'm wondering how photographic the candlelight tour of the castle is. It sounds really neat, but if it's going to be dark, it might not be good for taking pictures of the rooms and architecture. So I'm wondering if I should book a day tour in addition to a night tour? Or will the night tour be the exact same tour as the day, only by candlelight? Thanks if anyone knows.

Day tours are much better for taking pictures, night tours for feeling the atmosphere.

I have not finshed my pages about Bojnice yet, you can see a few pictures here:

Thanks. Do you think it would be too redundant to take both a day tour and a night tour (so to get both good pictures and fun atmosphere?)

I think, taking the both would be the best decision. I have been there perhaps 50 times since my child years and I am still alive :-) I believe, both can be an interesting experience for foreigners.

Art

The walls of the Bojnice Castle are plenty of paintings and art objects dating from XV to XIX
century. Here, at the bottom we can see a portrait of Marie Antoniette, her husband Louis XVI and Maximilian of Habsburg.

"bojnice"

One of Slovakia best Castles , the castle at Bojnices very much resembles the beginning of a Disney film. all turrets and high walls.
well worth a visit and tour round, it is furnished with many fine pieces of furniture and art . unfortunately there were no English speaking guides there the day i visited , which was a pity .
across the way is the famous Bojnice zoo . so it is easy to spend a day looking at both , something for the adults and also the kids !

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Bojnice is one of the oldest castles of Slovakia, so it has suffered a lot of alterations during history. These changes ended with Jan Frantisek Palfy Count, that provided to the castle the tale atmosphere and its actual appearance.

My parents were married here in the 1970s. Just an interesting tidbit of information that I like to tell anyone who cares to listen! It is a lovely castle, though I'm more interested in older and ancient architecture myself.

Slovakia's Premiere Castle

by TexasDave

There are several things that make this a unique castle among the many to be found in Slovakia. It started to be built in 1113, but was a wooden structure with at moat. The stone castle was started in the 1300's. The last owner, Count Jan Pallfy, maintained this castle as his home until his death in 1908. During the Communist years many historical sites were neglected, but not this castle. It was used by bigshots as a weeekend getaway and conference center. It is also built upon a cave with a spring inside.
Near the castle there is also a zoo, which isn't the biggest or the best, but makes another point of interest for families.
