    Great little hotel

    by

It's a novel idea to put a hotel on the Danube in an old steamship but the Botel Marina is a little gem of a hotel for a 1 or 2 night stopover. The rooms are small being the original cabins and they can get hot even with the antiquated air conditioning on full blast. The room I had was clean and comfortable with a shower room just big enough to swing a cat in. There is also an Indian restaurant on board and very good it was too. The bar doubles as a strip joint but is only open Thursday to Saturday. The staff were pleasant enough and I'd stop there again. Just 10 minutes walk along the banks of the Danube will take you to the heart of the old town just opposite the new bridge (Novy Most) so the hotel is handily placed for the sights.

Unique Quality: It's a boat in the city centre with an Indian restuarant! That's pretty unique.

Directions: Under the castle near the new bridge.

    Luxury on the Danube

    by

I was hesitant at first to stay on a boat on the river. Being from the US, areas along rivers are usually very seedy. Botel Marina in Bratislava is now my favorite hotel to stay at in all my European travels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped me go over maps and make taxi and train reservations. The breakfast buffet is very complete and one of the best breakfasts I have had in Central Europe. The only drawback is it is quite a long distance from the nearest tram or bus stop. For people that have a hard time getting around I suggest arriving at the hotel by taxi. Highly recommended.

Unique Quality: On the river side of the boat there is a small patio. This is a wonderful place to contemplate where you are and enjoy the beauty of the Danube and Slovakia.

    Botel Marina

    by

I stayed on this Botel with 12 colleagues from work.
We booked directly with the Botel, who answered all our email queries promptly and in good english.

It is a 4 star hotel housed in a boat moored permanently on the banks of the river Danube.
Its a few minutes walk to the Novy Most (new bridge) and only a few more to the centre of the old town, so in my opinion it was in an excellent location and enabled us to walk to all sights.

The botel obviously has smallish rooms, as they are cabins but they had comfortable beds, good showers and were as we expected.

The botel has nice wood panelling throughouts its interior. the staff were polite, pleasant and helpful.
The botel has a nice upstairs bar and restaurant area and the meal we had at the restaurant was excellent.

The included breakfast was of great variety, english, continental and of a good standard.

All in all we had a great time at this hotel and would highly recommend it.
We paid 2950 skk per room per night.

Unique Quality: Its a Boat !

and has great views of the Danube and the Novy Most.

It is located below the castle hill.

A nice stay on the river

    by

It's a very nice new 4 star hotel on the river. It's just beneath the Castle and Parliament. A very close distance from the old center. Prices are a bit high for the quality offered - 78 euro (incl. breakfast) for a double room with 2 separate beds. The athmosphere is very good - small but comfortable rooms, a nice place on the deck for breakfast, a very good bar, free Internet connection in the lobby and friendly personnel.

Unique Quality: The rooms have a nice view towards the river and the New Bridge. They have airconditionning but you can open the windows as well. And I haven't felt any rolling, so you don't bother about being seasick;)

Directions: Near the New Bridge and Hrada

Really good quality and price

by kph100 about BOTEL MARINA

The Botel Marina located on the Danube just below the castle has a great restaurant located on its upper deck.

We had our first nights meal on the boat and they accommodated 13 of us at short notice.

My meal - Prawns with lime, chilli and caper sauce £3.50
followed by main meal of -
Chicken breast with cheese and capers in batter, unusual and not something I have seen elsewhere but very nice and excellent presentation - £5

A really enjoyable meal and great value.

hotel convenient to airport?

by Jenniferj

Hello all,
we are flying into Bratislava in August for one night. We arrive late afternoon and fly out very early next morning, check in around 6 am. Could anyone recommend a nice hotel that is convenient to the airport and yet close enough to the major sites for 1 night? We will be on honeymoon.

Hi,
try the City Hotel

http://www.bratislava.info/hotels/city-bratislava/

It is situated between airport (10km outside the city) and downtown and is a rather nice average-hotel!
Have a nice trip

If you want a very nice candlelit dinner on the Danube while you are there I strongly recommend the Botel Marina. It is about 5 minutes walk from the old town and we stayed there last week and it was excellent (once the Taxi driver had found it).

Sure, it's not the most convenient for the airport, but you can get taxis (400-500 Sk) each way. The other thing is that since you are on a boat the rooms are small (twins only) so perhaps try booking a suite?? (2600 - 3300 Sk per night depending on what you get)

The food in the restaurant is absolutely superb though and the setting on the Danube is great, hence why I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to you.....
