Downtown Backpackers Hostel Bratislava
Great little hostel with very good location and a nice bar downstairs that stayed open as long as there were people buying drinks. There was a truly unique common room and a kitchen/laundry room.

Great new hostel, well located in Bratislava
Christmas in Bratislava could be a dull afair if your hostel didnt have a bar downstairs, fortunately, we did. The personable staff and ecclectic feel of the building itself, lent this hostel both authenticity and modernity in a city that does likewise.
Unique Quality: Large common room with out-of-tune guitars and piano, gorgeous bartender with lots of sexy piercings, dimly lit bar & restaurant downstairs, free internet, comfy beds.

A big old house
This was a great place to start off our trip. The staff were friendly, the showers have all been refurbished and there was a selection of games and books in the common room, as well as free internet access and a bar. Lockers available, smokers can smoke in the foyer. It is spread over 2 or 3 floors and there are plenty of rooms.
It was however through a lot of scaffolding but it wasnt too hard to find from the train station at all. (see below)

Not like the film
I spent a couple of days here in 2005. as hostels go it was basic enough but the atmosphere was good and the staff were efficient if not over friendly. a good mix of travellers here and the bar was a good place to have a chat for an hour or two.

Good location & price, small room
The Downtown Backpackers is in a good location- it's about a 5 minute walk to the old town which is where you want to be.
We had a private room with a bath. The room was across the street from the hostel itself. I think they have 5 rooms like this.
The room was small but totally fine for two nights. The bathroom was decent asides from the poor lighting.
Unique Quality: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price and location are the selling point for staying here however.

hostel with character
Dorm rooms accommodate 4-7 people mostly in bunk beds. Three story in narrow street. Wonderful showers. Great kitchen facilities, also lounge and bar.Reception usually friendly but occasionally condescending. Closer to old city than main railway station but walking distance from both.
Close to Nova Scena (Kollarovo nam 20) for operettas, musicals or drama. Ticket office is open 12-7pm weekdays and one hour before performances.
Unique Quality: Very convenient location and a lovely old building. See photo.

Downtown Backpacker's Hostel
I was unsure where to stay when I got to Bratislava. I heard that there are 2 hostels in the city (which is 2 more than a couple of years ago). I saw a sign for this place in the train station so headed there. I'm glad 'cos I heard not such good things about the other hostel.
This place is very cool. Well located and onnly 5 minutes from the Old Town by foot. It has the most comfortable hostel beds I've experienced and good cooking and washing facilities. The staff are friendly and will drink with you and chat to you which is always nice. There's just the one small common room which is good cos you can't help but meet everyone.
Dorm Rooms are about 600sk a night.

Downtown Backpacker's Hostel
Very friendly, pleasant hostel only a few minutes walk from the Old Town in Bratislava. All the staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English.
If you are looking for a hostel to stay at in Bratislava. There is no need to look any further than here.
Unique Quality: Internet access, common room, 24 hour bar and reception, no curfew.
There are all sizes of rooms from doubles to 8 bed dorms. The kitchen has microwaves, oven, pans, plates etc.
