Bratislava-Wien train return ticket question

by Ishtvan

Dear All,

I found information about trains between Bratislava and Wien almost every hour,
even during night time.

But couldn't find info about price.

Could you please let me know how much will cost return ticket?

Thank you.

Hello

You could try the website www.seat61.com

This will give details on fares. It seems the best deal is to just turn up at the station. About 18 euros return or it costs slightly more for an openended ticket.

Fares on www.seat61.com are generally out of date.

Agree seat61 is far not the best source of info ;)

Return ticket costs 9.2 euro or 12.6 euro if you want to have it as Wien transport pass.

Dear friends,

Thank you for usefull info.

@kopvas, could you please explain, how/where can I buy return ticket
with Wien Pass?
What will it allow me?

Thank you.

Re: Bratislava-Wien train return ticket question

You can buy "Wien ticket" at any desk in Bratislava hl.stanica and probably any other station, where Bratislava-WIen trains stop - just say that you need "Wien ticket"
For additional price you can travel for free on any city transports (U bahn, buses, trams etc.)
Cashiers in Bratislava usually speak English pretty good, so you can ask them all the questions you are interested in ;)

Kopvas says: "For additional price you can travel for free on any city transports (U bahn, buses, trams etc.)"

Do you mean that paying 12.60EUR I purchase return ticket
-Bratislava-Wien-Bratislava
-and Wien Pass that let me travel by public transport everywhere in Wien city?

Sounds very reasonable!
If so, then I have two more questions:
1)For how many days Return Date is open?
Or I need to return to Bratislava in the same day?
2)How long is valid this Wien Pass? Or only for the day I purchase it?

Thank you.

Re: Bratislava-Wien train return ticket question

by kopvas

As far as I know, the ticket should be valid at list 4 days (maybe more), as public transport pass probably only during the first day, but once more - it is better to ask already in Bratislava in order to be 100% sure

11 euros return, Wiensuebanhoff, 5 euros by taxi to Opera House date 05.06.10 city centre a decent downhill hike if u want to walk it. Ensure u tell single german only talking taxi drivers, which they seem to be although they are mainly Turks, which station want to go back to for the return journey.

Travel Tips for Bratislava

Bratislava at night

by HORSCHECK

I visited Bratislava in wintertime just after christmas. I highly recommend taking a stroll around the Old Town in darkness. Most of the squares and historic buildings (e.g. St. Martin's Cathedral or the Castle) are beautifully illuminated.
Apart from that, the view from Castle Hill to the Novy Most Bridge and the Old Town is magnificient.

Slovak Beer

by drei3t

I'm not a beer expert but after tasting few local Slovak beers I would encourage to test them. Not as famous as the Czech ones, but you might find the taste a positive surprice. Most famous beer seemed to be Zlatý Bažant (Golden Pheasant) but I also liked brands like
Corgon, Popper and Starobrono.

An Urban Villa?

by yooperprof

This must have once been a truly spectacular house. I think now that it's broken up into apartments, but at the time of its construction it was surely a wonderful place. Even now it still bears its scars with a graceful dignity.

Hlavné Námestie is a nice...

by Fruiyersa

Hlavné Námestie is a nice square in the pedestrian city center. Bratislava is located not far from Vienna (1 hour by train) and Budapest (3 hours). So if you ever go to one of these cities and have some time left, you can come here and visit it. It’s not so touristed as these cities, so here you’ll see the 'Real' Central Europe. The former capital of the Czechoslovak Republic eclipsed its attractions completely
