Nice hotel near the airport

We stayed here one night, before leaving Slovakia from the nearby Bratislava airport.

The hotel has nice rooms with nice beds, bathroom and TV.

The hotel is located outside the center of Bratislava in an area with industri and warehouses. There are some traffic on the road next to the hotel (especially from the trams), so get a room on the other side of the building.

Unique Quality: The prices are single: 29 euro, duoble: 33 euro.

There is a restaurant where you can buy breakfast, but we didn't get to try it as we left early in the morning before it opened.

The hotel is near the airport and it takes around 5 minutes by taxi to go there and the price (sunday morning is 260 sk).

Out of City Centre Hotel

This is a fairly new hotel about 9km from the City Centre. It comes with the usual facilities of TV, phone, en suite shower and wc. It does have a small garden with pond and and some seats, and a lounge with TV. The reception can provide bus/tram tickets, cold drinks, snacks and there is a hot drinks machine. Unusually for a 2 star hotel there are staff to wait on you for breakfast. The reception is open 24 hours and there is a security guard, CCTV and guarded car park. 8 nights including breakfast cost me 9815 SK

Unique Quality: The hotel is approximately 9km from the centre of town but the #4 tram takes you to the city centre (20 mins) and the #2 tram goes to the main railway station. A new Tesco Hypermarket is across the road from the hotel and it has a restaurant and cafes. The trams go past the new Polus Centre which has a food court, cinema, designer label shops and a supermarket. The Zlate Piesky lake is a few minutes walk away from the hotel for a change of scenery. The breakfast waiter was the spitting image of Manuel from Fawlty Towers and as long and you like eggs or frankfurters, breakfast is ok.

leaving luggage

by midland204

Plan of arriving in Vienna by air. Then want to take bus to Bratislava and then bus to Prague and then back to Vienna for a flight to Asia. I have a lot of luggage as I will be staying in Asia for 4 months. I don't what the hassle of carrying this luggage all over and want to leave it at either the airport in Vienna or first stop in Bratislava.

Anyone know where I can leave my luggage at airport or downtown Vienna or at a bus station in Bratislava?

Re: leaving luggage

I'm not sure about Bratislava (although I believe its railway station has such facilities and its bus station may) but there are definitely left luggage facilities at the airport in Vienna. Open '5.30 a.m. to 11.20 p.m, € 3,00 per item and day or part thereof'.

http://www.viennaairport.com/jart/prj3/via/website.jart?rel=en&reserve-mode=active

then 'services at the airport' from the left-hand menu

then 'luggage service' from the drop-down menu under the searchbox.

Tearoom Pohoda

by macicka

This tearoom is situated in the center of the town near Main Square.
What I like here is that it's forbidden to smoke in the tearoom.
They offer many teas, black, green, fruit, white and other sorts of tea. Except tea they offer also non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, juices, cofee, hot chocolate, cakes and also soma salty small things. Interesting is that they offer more kinds of sugar, maybe 4 sorts.
When you leave, you can also buy some tea or other items they offer...

Antik cafe

This cafe is reasonable to visit especially during the cold months because you can sit "outside" but you are inside.
It's something special but really interesting, you canwatch how the city lives... This place reminds me of the winter and the evening I spend with my friends outside.:)

Statue of Hviezdoslav

by yooperprof

The grand square in front of the opera house is home to many significant monuments, including this memorial to Hviezdoslav, a great national poet. Now, when I visited Bratislava, I did not know anything about Hviezdoslav, but when I got back to the states I did my homework, and I learned a little bit about this important Slovak writer, one of the spirits behind the 19th century national revival here. Hviezdoslav was the pen name of Pavel Orszagh (1849-1921), poet, playwright and translator, and one of the great inspirations for those who sought to rebuild Slovak identity. Appropriately, his memorial is very well tended!
