Well appointed hotel near main railway station
A very pleasant and comfortable stay.
Unique Quality: High standard of housekeeping and maintenance. Beautiful decor with a cosy ambience. Hotel staff are efficient and friendly in general.
Located next to the main train station and 25 min walk to the old town.
We are agroup of 6 people planning a trip to eastern Europe by august 2009. I found some information from travelers, that is possible and cheaper to buy a train ticket from Moscow to St Petersburg, in Bratislava.
If this information is true, I have some questions about:
I have to buy also a round trip ticket from Bratislava to Moscow, in order to buy the Moscow-St Petersburg?
I have to be citizen of Slovakia or any other European country to buy it.
Should I have to book in advance this trip by internet with a travel agency or ticket office in Bratislava?
Or is possible just to walk in and buy the tickets the day I’ll be there.
Can I buy and make at the same time a reservation for specific date, train and 1st or 2nd class berth?
And last, where to find the ticket prices and options in the internet.
Thanks
Francisco
Re: Russia train tickets in Bratislava
by Peter_BA
Hi Francisco,
I am a slovak citizen, but never heard about this. We are going to Russia (Transib) this summer, on June. But we´ll buy tickets only from Bratislava to Brest (Belarus) - the border town between Poland and Belarus. The reason is clear...the ticket prices are much more cheaper in Belarus,or Russia, than in Slovakia. I know just price for this trip. Bratislava - Brest (Belarus) aproximately 70-80 euros, 2nd class, one way, no need to buy return ticket. You can buy this ticket personally on ticket office at the train station. Just show you up. You can buy tickets by internet only for domestic routes in Slovakia.
BTW. where did you find this information? It´s interested for me too.
Travel Tips for Bratislava
Sculptures
by micas_pt
Around the city you will find beautiful statues, some modern and some depicting daily situations. What I found most amazing about this was that statues mingle with people, “get on their way” and are part of street and places as if an inhabitant of city. Locals don’t seem to notice them any more, just tourists (that is ME as i visited Bratislava during off-peak season) shooting cameras at these beautiful sculptures. The photo shows a figure that stands in front of a fancy restaurant as if welcoming customers. Skipka told me his name is Schone Naci, known as Ignac. Thanks!!
The old Kapitulska Street
by gosiaPL
Kapitulska St. shoots off from the Cathedral and, with a name like this, it must be pretty old too! Thast's what tempted me to follow it and it was a nice stroll. With some fine buildings already restored and others still screaming for it, this little street has a feel of great history to it. I bet the kings to be crowned in the Cathedral came through here!

The town hall
by codrutz
The town hall of Bratislava is the nice 13th century white building with red roof and with some very nice color ceramic tiles - white, red and blue - on the attic windows. But the most spectacular feature - of the building and of the entire main square - is the 14th century tower - striking yellow and contrasting with the main building.
Confusing Yes and No
by Propermark
Hi,
since I came here I noticed people from abroad like me may actually get confused by the Slovak language cause they say "Ano" to say Yes and "Nie" to say No. So sometimes they are replying to you Ano and it means it is YES okay. :D
Q:public bus or train to Marianka "Hi guys:
How do I get from Bratislava to Marianka? what bus is going there, how often, etc. I know it's about 10 km and hope it..."
A: "I would need little more information ,from where are you going and when.
But still I suggest you this page:

Choose in left..."
