Proof of Funds

by montereyguy

My friend was recently asked, by the Slovak Border Police, to show proof of posessing $108 per day for his visit before entry into the country. He had enough cash on him at the time, so it was no problem. I have never personally dealt with this, but it has me a bit concerned. I will be arriving at the same entry point soon, but I do not like carrying large amounts of cash. I have been told there is a way to show them how much money you have on your credit card, but that they only take statements from banks within the Slovak Republic. Can someone please tell me how I might show them proof of funds without carrying the cash? This particular situation is something I've never dealt with. Thanks.

They could have suspect if he was not dressed properly.
On one occasion I forgot all papers of my rented car and drove it in Slovakia on Cali driver's license.
Nothing really matched: Hungarian passport (some say - not the best to use in Slovakia), car with Lichtenstein licence number and California driver's license.

Slovak border guards chastised me (in Hungarian) to be stupid (and sure I was!) and told me to return the same day back. I was dressed properly, my wife and three kids were with me. What I got from my wife I won't tell you. But we visited Zvolen that day as planed.

Hence the lession... :-)

Just show them some credit card .... plastic money shall be proof big enough for them.

yes, plastic money, neatly dressed, camera in front = no problem

Travel Tips for Kosice

That's Me...

by coceng

In this beautiful town, I wanted to have a memory for myself. Asked Marek to take a photo of me on these steps.
Kosice certainly has a feel-good vibes of the surrounding atmosphere.
Wished that we could stay longer but too bad we had to move to another destination in Slovakia, within that same day.

If you are arriving for Prague...

by anglosaxon

If you are arriving for Prague thinking that you've picked up some Czech language you are in for a shock. This is a similarly written language for the most part but, completely different in speaking. English is quite well used here by business. It is afterall the 2nd largest city after Bratislava.

The Main Square...

by coceng

The Main square. Looked so amazing !
Old & new, everything looked so trendy to me. The buildings & the old streets almost been preserved for hundreds of years.
The train station is EAST of the Old Town, about 5 to 10 minutes walk from one another.
On the photo, we can see Jakabov Palace on the right and Evangelic Church on the left to Hlavna ulica.

Underground Tunnels...

by coceng

Here, you could see the Underground Tunnels, supposedly below the town of Kosice. Maybe we arrived too early, maybe it was not opened to the public, restorations work; me & Marek couldn't go down to the tunnel. Sad.
On the photo, we could see part of the entrance (bottom left of the photo) to the tunnels below Kosice.

Another View...

by coceng

Another view of the fountains. People started to walk in the small park. People sitting down, talking, reading; small activities on the benches in the park.

A time for me & Marek to relax, sitting down, talking about life etc.
After about half an hour, we had to go.
We were going to the Prison !
