1. Kosice FC Football scarf

by vichatherly

Does anyone know where I can get hold of, other than Ebay, a decent woolen football scarf from the now disbanded team of 1. Kosice FC?

I am looking for one with the club crest on. I went to the champions league game, Kosice v Man United in September 1997, but forgot to get a team scarf. I would be willing to buy or swap for a Man United eqivalent.

Thanks for looking

Vic

Hi. I have just been in Kosice and was able to find a football scarf in the Tourist Information Center on Hlavna Street 59. However the only problem was that is not the woolen type one but from a thinner material. However it is a very nice scarf. If I would have seen your message while I was there (a week ago) I would have bought one for you. It was priced at 8.90 Euros. I bought it for a fellow scarf collector friend. Do you collect any other football related stuff except scarves?

Regards,
Mihnea

Thanks for the reply. I'm still travelling around Europe when I can following Man Utd. I'll see if I can get in touch with the tourist information.

Thanks again

Travel Tips for Kosice

World Famous Kosice Philharmonic!

by lmkluque

If you have the opportunity of hearing the Kosice Philharmonic in concert, don't miss it. They are world-class musicians! They have toured on the East and West Coasts of the USA and several of their members have a group called the 'Beggars' and play Blue Grass for tourists in the Mountian areas during vacation season. They were invited to play in New York a few years ago, for a "Bluegrass Feastival!" Pictured is the back of The Beggar's CD. Though it was kind of funny, at first, to hear the 'Beverly Hillbilly's' song sung with a Slovak accent, their music is great!

Jakob's Palace

by HORSCHECK

The Jakob's Palace (Jakabov Palace) was built at the end of the 19th century for the rich entrepreneur Peter Jacob.

In 1945 when Kosice was the capital of Czechoslovakia for a short period, the palace was inhabited by the Czechoslovak president Eduard Benes.

Nowadays the oriental style building is used for representative purposes.

Directions:
The Jacob's Palace can be found in between the old town and the Municipal Park. When coming from the train station you will come across the palace on your way to the old town.

How Beautiful Kosice Is !

by coceng

Me & Marek wandered around Kosice & discovered how beautiful the town is ! Almost every turn had good scenes & atmosphere, not to mention monument & buildings; to be captured by me !

The most valuable part of the town of Kosice, which attract practically all visitors, is the historical core with a spindle-shaped square and pedestrian zone along the Main street (Hlavna ulica) proclaimed a historical town reserve.
Visitors of Kosice can admire very different architectonic styles documenting the famous and rich history of the town.

Entrance To Another Chamber/Room...

by coceng

Here's another entrance to another room. Some rooms were the actual prison cells where the prisoners were kept ! Eerie or what ?

The 16th century building where this prison is situated is belong to the East Slovak Museum. It is the former city prison and torture-chamber.
