Hi
We are interested in purchasing land in the high tatras for a campsite. we were originally looking in poland but quite interested in Tatranska Lomicka etc. We wish to run a summer camp, employing locals and teaching english to the community. Small area required. Or interested in small cottage, log cabin
please email
This is 2.5 years late but purchasing land in the high tatras is not that easy. First of all, Vysoke Tatry is a national park so private land is scarce. There are a couple of campgrounds in the area but they are not the typical "summer" camp in North America. The campsites are in open spaces exposed to sun, rain and lightning. Tatry is changing. It's especially visible this year (summer 2008) due to building boom. I do hope the authorities slow it down.

Although Poprad is a modern industrial city of 53 000 people there is enough to interest tourists for a day or two.
There is a wide range of accomodation to choose from and it is a good place to shop.
Frequent bus and train transport means it is a good base from which to see Stary Smokovec, Levoca, Kezmarok, Bardejov and Spisske Podhradie.
