I stayed at this pension for two nights in September 2011 mainly based on reviews on Tripadvisor. Martina was very responsive to email inquiries and was very happy to provide any information needed.
The pension itself is very new (2 years in business) and was designed very tastefully. I had a deluxe room, a large double bed with balcony and sitting area. flat screen tv. furnishing was more modern but worked nicely with the surroundings- was aesthetically pleasing and very comfortable. Plenty of closet space was available. The bed was large and very comfortable. the pillows were a bit too soft for my taste but no big deal. the bathroom was excellent..large, modern and of a design like an expensive hotel.
Martina would greet each guest and was a wonderful host. She helped suggest good hiking routes and was most helpful with train and bus schedules. All hotel staff was very nice and very responsive to requests. staff made an excellent pension even better.
the restaurant had a nice view, good food at more than reasonable prices.
wired internet was available in the room and wireless was only in the ground floor where the reception and restaurant were.
The pension was an excellent value for the money. I loved the design of the room- it was spotlessly clean, well lit and comfortable. everything worked perfectly. Breakfast was very nice, you chose from the menu. On the day I left a to go breakfast was prepared for me and i was surprised by how generous it was. I recommend this pension without reservation and would very happily stay here again.
Location is outstanding- directly across the street from the bus stop in Stary Smokovec. Stary Smokovec was well connected to local transport, both bus and rail. There are regular buses from Poland that go all the way to Poprad as well as the Slovak buses. Service to Poprad is quick, especially helpful when you have to catch an early train.
Rooms with a balcony are very nice, a great view
Has a very nice restaurant (open til 9 pm) with a lovely balcony and a great view.
This is an excellent B&B which can serve evening meals if you book them. It's about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Stary Smokovec and 1 minute from the nearest electric train station. There is plenty of parking space. The breakfast includes a very fresh fruit salad, cereals, cooked and cold meats, eggs etc. and our room had a fridge to prepare a picnic for the beautiful mountain walks which are the main reason to visit the High Tatras in summer. A great bonus is the sauna which was sheer bliss after our first day's six hour trek. The price was a very reasonable 45 euros for a double including breakfast.
Great sauna, delicious breakfast, excellent value
This mountain hut is located up the mountains from Stary Smokovec.
It is one hours walk from the end of the funicular railway in Hrebienok. This means that is a great place to stay if you aren't that keen on hiking further on in the mountains with all your luggage, and it is also a great place to have lunch on daytrips from Stary Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica.
Zamkovskeho chata has a restaurant, which serves meals and beverages all day long. There are around 8 rooms, and our rooms had four beds each (bunk-beds).
In the attic there are mattresses on the floor, because the place receives many visitors in the summer, so book ahead.
We stayed here in autumn, which meant that there weren’t that many visitors, and the service and everything was great.
We paid 20 euro pr. person pr. night including room and food. We found the prices reasonable considering the fact that they have to carry everything up to the chata.
We (a group of 11 people) stayed here for 4 nights and our stay included breakfast and dinner. The meals were served at exactly the time we requested (and not even five minutes late). For breakfast we were served different meals everyday, and ranged from bread with cheese and jam to eggs and even to tuna and carrotsalad! For dinner we first had soup and then the maincourse. Here we also got something different everyday, and in general the food was ok and local. Exept for dry bread, we found the food good, especially the klobasa (sausages) and gullash.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our stay here was great and we even had a weird and funny experience. One morning one person in our group found some dried lentils in his boot. we all thought that somebody played a trick on him, until I also found some under a shirt (put there while I ate my breakfast) and the staff told us that they also had experienced lentils in their boots. Then we figured out that an animal was hiding food for the winter and we preferred to believe it was a squirrel (there were many of them outside) than a mouse.
