Travel Tips for Tatranska Lomnica

Grand Hotel Praha

You cannot overlook this imposing structure. Because part of the garden area was under reconstruction we were able to enter and enjoy the view. This hotel is frequented by foreign tour groups too. They have a separate building with wellness.

Walk from Stary Smokovec to Tatranska Lomnica

We walked this stretch because we would have had to wait a fair while for the next train. There is a footpath following the main road but it's usually separated and a few meters off the road. You can see a small stream and some flowers along the way.

Gateway to the High Tatras

Tatranska Lomnica is a small town near the High Tatras. It's an excellent base for hiking in the Tatras as many trails begin in the village. There is also a cable car station which can quickly take you to the top of Lomnicky Stit, one of the highest peaks.

Lomnica has a good choice of hotels and penzions and there are transportation links to other Tatra towns via the Electric Train and to further afield by bus.
