Triglav Apartments: One Small Drawback, or "The Lowpoint"

    Well, as they say, there is a bug in every salad, or was that hamburger?? Well no matter, the point is that the only drawback in the apartment was the bathroom. In the picture you can see Tal who is 30 centimeters shorter than me "modeling" the size.

    Now you may ask how we found out about this "drawback", well, you might call it the "low point" of my trip. On our first night there, I woke up in the middle of the night, having to do what you gotta do. So as to not wake up anyone else, did not turn on the lights. As I walked into the bathroom and approached the toilet, my head discovered that the sloped ceiling was very, very low at that point. I almost knocked myself out and in the process managed to wake everybody up with the very loud "knock" of my head on the wooden roof. Needless to say I took car to duck and sit from that day on and I did survive ;O)) and everyone had quite the laugh at me the next day, HEY, it wasn't that funny!!

    What makes it special, Marko does. Marko is owner, host, cook, friend. He made us fell right at home when we arrived, sitting down with us, bringing out a good bottle of Slovenian wine and just being fantastic. After a few days there we became very close for such a short time, also did several hikes with Marko as guide. Maybe I should mention that you have a fall down beautiful view of Mt.Triglav from the house.

    The apartments are very well appointed, not the royal suites, but very comfortable and you can see that a lot of though has been put into everything. Obviously Marko enjoys what he is doing there.

    The accomodation lies in Dovje Slovenia. The vieuws from the terrace to the mountains are magniffecent!

    Great host and very beautiful vieuws on the highest mountains in Slovenia!

    We stayed at apartments owned by VT'er Jmarkoos. Several VT'ers have stayed here so I knew we'd have a great time and a warm welcome from Marko with plenty of info for wonderful hiking in Slovenia.

    Dovje is a small old (1000 years) village, which is one of the sunniest villages in Slovenia and enjoys a beautiful view of the highest mountain in Slovenia - Triglav - 2864 m.

    The pleasant and peaceful KAMP KAMNE is situated in an idyllic ALPINE resort.

    It covers an area of 1,5 hectares and can accomodate 200 summerguests.

    The camp also rents BUNGALOWS.

    When you are a guest there you can enjoy playing TENNIS, MOUNTAIN BIKING, WALKING and FISHING.

    The KAMP provides useful maps and all the necessary information about mountain tours.

    The KAMP is in the immediate vicinity of the Triglav National Park and the magnificent ALPINE valleys of Vrata, Kot and Krma.

    It is the ideal starting point for numerous easy and more demanding outings into the KARAVANKE and Julian ALPS and, most spectaculair outings upon the slopes of Mount TRIGLAV itself - the symbol of the SLOVENIAN NATION.

    The camp provides you with everything you could wish for!

    This lovely house "just at the end of the village" (and remember that the "streets" have no names, the houses only a number (and often a name) is Marko's place...

    I have already shown you the VISTA we had from this place.
    You can see me on the balcony that belonged to our appartment and where is was so good to sit and enjoy.
    Fun is also to try to make out the unfamiliar noises you hear during daytime, during the evening and well, crickets have licences for nights and days....

    A farmer driving his tractor to his field to come back with a bale of hay, time and again, one by one....(in the evening he walked with his wife to show her how things went.....a woman who goes to / returns from her kitchengarden, dusty, hot and tired, I can hear her steps because of the black wellies she is wearing, birds and bats, swifts (swallows) that me always make think of a gang of little street-urchins, chasing each other while treating me to their special sounds.....

    Other guests arriving home after a day of climbing or walking.....
    The neighbours little dog starts barking, soon answered by another one and 1-2 neighbouring dogs add their voices.....

    Hey and over there they are having a party: tables and chairs appear, let down from a balcony, food and drink appear quicker than the chairs, the baby gets its milk.....someone is making music and they talk and laugh, eat and drink and have fun, a family party...

    Oh, this all and much, much more you can hear from this balcony.....

    Then it is nice to join the other guests already downstairs, for a talk and for some silence, to see the first star appear....to sip some white wine or a wonderful peach drink.....
