Just go to a place called "Tourist Agency" along the port when you arrive by bus. I thought it was the Tourist Office but no... it's a money-making business so be swift. The place I rented was right on the seafront, at the end of the old town, and perfect in every way. A real holiday, full autonomy. (Note that the town closes on Saturday 'round Noon, til Monday. If you get an apartment, run for your food and provisions before then!)
In the morning, stick your head out the window and ask the nice restaurateur to make you two large capuccinos. He'll put them right on the dining-room table, though the window. The greeting is "Dobr Dan" - Good day! -- and we used it a lot. Italian is widely spoken there, and German too.

In the Koritnica valley there are 100 watterfalls .
Very kind owners and nice rooms and appartment . Outdoor jacuzzi is very fascinating.

The owner was very reserved but nice. She was even nicer when she found out I was Canadian, cuz her son lives in Toronto and she visits him often. :-)
The room was in the attic and small. There was no one else on that floor, so we had the facilities to ourselves. Great! A very clean place too.
Buses to and from town are about every hour, perhaps more frequent in daytime. Euros 75 cents, CDN$1.20 -- how's that for accuracy? haha.
What I really liked was that on the last day, the longer-distance bus we wanted to go to Skofja Loka came from the centre and passed right in front of the Pension Cirman. No wasting time going back and forth.
Medno is in the countryside, very quiet. The pic is our Pension as it was many many years ago. Their business card mentions restaurant but it seems they only rent rooms now. We would come back after a busy day of walking around and seeing the sights of Ljubljana, and relax in our wonderful hotel room. It didn't feel like we were staying in a hotel, it felt more like home or a friend's house. We didn't feel the need to go out. It was nice just to chill out at night there.
We had a great view as well.
The only thing I wouldn't recommend is eating at the hotel in the evening. It was pre packed frozen food and Veg. Slovenia has some great cheap restaurants. It's worth venturing out to find one!

Because we were honeymooners, my husband and I got special treatment at some of the hotels we stayed at in Yugoslavia. We checked into Grand Hotel Toplice and were shown our room. I needed something from the car, so I went downstairs. On the way down, I ran into the desk clerk who was on his way up with a basket of delicious looking fruit and a bottle of champagne. When he saw me, he got very flustered, stammered that "This was supposed to be a surprise" and turned around and went back downstairs.
I felt a little sorry for ruining his surprise, but mostly, I was looking forward to the basket of fruit and the champagne. I went back up to the room and we waited. And waited. And waited.
The desk clerk never came back with the basket or champagne. I guess I totally screwed things up when I ruined his surprise, and we weren't eligible anymore for the honeymoon basket!

Perk is surrounded with unspoiled nature, fresh air and peaceful wide forests. You can decide for active vacation or, on the other hand, chose peaceful holiday, far away from frenzied world and enjoy in bird's warbling, relaxing nature and excellent domestic food. Neighbourhood of the farm offers plenty possibilities for sport, relaxation, fun or even educational excursion. One can variegate his holidays with archery, horse riding, swimming in the pool, kayaking on Savinja river and fishing.
Their roads are actually made for mountain cycling. If you like mountains, you shouldn't miss climbing on one of nearby peaks or, in case you like real challenges, even rock-climbing. For those, more inquisitive, I recommend visiting the Neanderthal man museum (Potocka cave) or old gothic church in Solcava. In case you only want to take rest, you can visit Logarska Valley, Matko's or Roban's end, which are in all times in year full of unforgettable nature beauty. You will find a lot of nice and easy footpaths there.
In winter you will probably want to ski. There are two smaller ski slopes in vicinity. They have also possibility to produce compact snow. In Logarska Valley you have possibilities for cross-country skiing. If you like to try yourself with snow sledge they have perfect possibilities for sleighing on snowed up roads. You can also loan the sledge on the farm.
