Pension Stare is a small family-run pension with clean & simple rooms (with balcony) located in the quiet and tiny hamlet of Ukanc just a short walk from Lake Bohinj at the western tip of the lake. Many hiking paths in the Triglav National Park start right here! The friendly and helpful owner Mr. Stare is fluent in Slovenian, English and German.
We loved staying here! Our host Luka was really friendly and helpful. We found the location pretty close to the lake and the hotel/guesthouse itself was as clean as a whistle and really attractive. See the images!
This 3* hotel is located about half way between the train station and the Old Town and is part of a small shopping complex. The room was a good size with a good sized double-bed, TV, fridge (which was empty), phone, a/c and plenty of storage. The bathroom was clean with WC, sink, hairdryer and a good shower. Breakfast was the usual continental affair that was served in the hotels small Bavarian inspired restaurant/bar. It was good to come back after a day’s sightseeing and sit outside and enjoy a beer. Pay in cash (euros) so you get a better rate.
This 3* hotel is very well located, being just over the square from the City Castle. The whole hotel has been renovated recently and it shows. The room I had was virtually sparkling. It had a king-size doublebed at one end and a sofa, desk and walldrobe at the other separated by a TV on top of a cabinet housing a mini-bar and shelves. The room was really what I would call a suite than just a double bedroom but I believe all the rooms are like this. The WC was separate from the main bathroom which had a doublesize walk-in shower with sliding door, sink and hairdryer. Breakfast was the usual continental affair plus some cooked food such as scrambled eggs and sausages. This was one of the best hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed at and the out-of-season price during the summer makes it a real bargain. Also included in the price is free admission to the Fontana spa complex which is well worth going to.
This 2 star hotel is very well located right in the middle of the city centre about 100m from Preseren Square. The room I had was in the annex across the courtyard from the main building. It was fairly small with a smallish double bed, TV, cheap looking waldrobe and a small a/c unit which was definitely needed as it was July! The bathroom had a very small walk in shower which didn't have much water pressure. Breakfast wasn't much with cereals, breads and jams and coffee/tea and juice. There was also meat and cheese that came in packs of 3. Staff were very friendly and yes you still have to ask for large towels! All-in-all, I didn't want anything fancy and considering the price and compared with others located away from the city centre, it was a good option.
An excellent campsite. Went in September and it was still busy so I expect it is extremely busy in the summer months: making a reservation is advisable.
Shower/toilet blocks very clean. Supermarket, restaurant, laundry room, basketball court etc at the site. Family friendly.
Surrounded by forest and mountains and a short walking distance from the lake. Ideal location for outdoor sports lovers! Absolutely stunning scenery.
A couple of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Nice walk by the lake to go into Bled.

Did you ever think about staying in in old prison? Well here you go! A former prison changed into a neet, clean Hostel with exelent service. Worth the stay! Again and again...
Absolute 10/10 can't say enough about the place! Nestled in the mountain town of Podkoren only one hour from Ljubljana on the edge of the Triglav national park... if you go there you will never want to leave.

Activities: Anything outdoors, you can do it all from here, mountain biking, trekking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, rafting.

We followed the advice about this farm (from the Vter markyg) - It was a so cool address that we stood 3 days.
The village is really quiet, not too far away from the Potojna caves (15 minutes may be).
We received an excellent welcome.
Rooms are clean and very pleasant, food is great (good quantities too, maybe too much sometime for my poor stomach).
Price was 65 euros per night for 2 adults and 1 child, breakfast and evening dinner included - Side drinks (several wine carafs, beers, homemade cherry sirup) didn't cost a lot
These people are very concerned by the quality of their work and they do a lot for you to enjoy your stay...
Now that we are back to home, we can compare this address with several B&B we slept and definitly this one is great !
