Charlies! Some People even have two
by stanian
"Charlie's, (ice cream and cake shop) it's a cafe you can have Tea, Coffee, Beer, all the local Brandies but most of all you can have cake and ice cream.
The cakes and the ice cream are all made in the shop and they are great. There are friendly arguments as to which has the nicer cakes, Charlie's, or the Brown bear in Bled, for me Charlie's wins hands down. And if you tell the boss he might even smile for you.
Try them both and make your own mind up.
But can you eat Two cream slices?
Ski jumping finals
by msleinon
Nice ski flying hill Velikanka or something where we got to see world records this year. Made by finnish Matti Hautamäki, 231 m.
Next year 2004 there'll be World Championships in ski flying instead of season finals in wc. Sun glasses, some flags to cheer for your favourite team and other necessary equipment.
Good shoes, as it can be slippery and muddy.
THE THREE COUNTRIES RUN.....
by eden_teuling
Each year, cross-country runners test their skills in a cross-country skiing competition.
The route runs through 3 countries; AUSTRIA, ITALY AND SLOVENIA.
This really is a great event....
Views and falls
by stanian
In the martuljek mountain range there are waterfalls to see. The walk to the 30m high lower falls is quite easy but a little slippery in places.
The view from the field before you enter the National park boundry is worth a visit in itself, It is hard to imagine a way thorough to the falls from here. One warning, if it should start to rain anything but lightly, I advise you not to go because the gorge can turn into a raging torrent as the new bridges clearly show. The old route has been washed away, it used to be a path on the left bank of the river.
After the first waterfall there is a mountain hut Brunarica Pri ingotu serving local food and drinks, this is worth a visit while you are there and the scenery in Jasenje meadow is awesome.
From here you can go to the higher fall signposted Zgornji slap II but don't believe the times on some of the signs they seem very optomistic.
If you do not want to come down the same way you can follow the road that leads to the hut in the opposite direction..
Note: on my recent visit on 7th of June 2004 most of the bridges were out (again) this is why you do not go if it rains and we had to walk across on thin planks, scary but fun.
August 2006 and we have all new bridges.
