Aleks Klinec: Accommodation, great wine and even Poetry

Quite a special place in Medana is the place of the vintner Aleks Klinec. You may taste and purchase great very specific local wines - read more about them at the website given below.

Aleks Klinec offers also B&B accommodation. And every year in late August Medana hosts an interesting event called "Poetry and Wine". Young poets from all over the world come together and give recitations of their poems and exchange thoughts suported by the wonderful Brda wines. Imagine poets from countries as different as Ecuador, Latvia and Albania etc. reciting their poems in their native languages and make each other understood with the help of the wine.

I came first to this place with my VT-friend oja and her husband (who together with Aleks Klinec did a lot of the organization of these events).

No big hotels in the area

This is not an area of mass tourism. The usual way of staying here are B & Bs. A growing number of the farmers are offering rooms for tourists (look out for "Sobe"). Best to ask right at the place where you taste the wine. If they do not offer rooms themselves they know enough suitable addresses around. And you can be sure that the rooms are - as everything in Slovenia - well kept and clean.
