From bus to Hertz to pick up rental car

How far is it from the train/bus station to the Hertz rental office? What is the easiest way to get there? Depending on the distance, I would prefer not to walk hauling my luggage.

It's a Hertz independent licensee. The office is at Pristaniska 21.

The bus station is at Kolodvorska Cesta 11.

Google maps suggests it's a few minutes walk...I'd estimate around 800m.

Put one of the addresses + Koper into google maps, the choose 'get directions', enter the other address and you'll get the route, distance and walking time.

The railway station is a bit further away, as Fugu suggests, but only 400m or so (and on the same road as the bus station).

You mean the railway station is 1.3km? That means my estimate was pretty good! :-)

My Fondest Memory...

I was in Koper with a Slovene friend, Ivan from Ilirska Bistrica.
I told him that I love watching all those green leaves hanging on the doorsteps, windows.
A very good sight in all over Mediteranean destinations.
Is there a significant reason why people grow leaves, put some pillars so the leaves could grow & grow, hence covering the the doorsteps or windows ?
My only answer is to think that these leaves will make the houses & buildings more shady from the sun.
Any other explaination ?

Koper is the main Slovenian port and the entrance to the inland of the Central Europe. It is located on the "top" of Istria. Koper was an island till the 19th century. see the centre, with a nice small cathedral and Loggia cafe which is on the same place, which is called Titov trg. If you are lucky you may see some good exhibitions in the Loggia gallery as well! Otherwise, the beach is disgusting!

This square was named after the famous poet France Presernov. It is located at the southern end of the old town. Here you can see the Da Ponte fountain; built in the 1666. It supplied the town with drinkable water for several centuries. At one end of the square there is the Muda Gate. It is the last remaining gate of the old Koper. There were twelve of them.

Titov trg is the main square in Koper. It is bordered by several buildings. Here you can visit the Cathedral of the Assumption. It was rebuilt in the XVIII century and is dedicated to Saint Nazarius. Koper's patron saint. Beside the church there is the a belltower that was originally separated from the church. They say it is a good lookout viewpoint over the town. Near the belltower we see the Praetorian Palace. This was the residence of the podestà (the boss) of the town who was chosen directly by the doge of Venice. Its current structure dates from the mid 15th century. This palace was built on the site of two XIII century houses. In the second half of the XIII century these were joined. Today the Praetorian Palace houses the Town Hall and some rooms opened to visitors. Ask at the tourist office on the ground floor about it. Opposite this palace there is the Loggia. It was built in 1463 and renovated in the 17th century..
